Your doppelganger
They say we all have a doppelganger. I believe we may have several. I can remember a half dozen or more times in my life I have been asked if I was someone else or if I ever lived somewhere. It has been somewhat embarrassing at times. Like one time at a restaurant two guys were sitting at a table near my wife and I. I kept feeling like they were looking our way but thought they were looking past us at someone or something else. Finally as we got up to leave one of them said "hey you ever been to some little town"? I said well yes I have a time or two. He said "fella, there are 4 kids there that would call you daddy". There I was with my wife and him saying such a thing. I laughed it off and said I was never there longer than to just drop off some freight and grab some fried chicken. We all laughed but I could see he wasn't buying that answer. My concern was, did my wife? But it is the truth.
Not much was said of it as similar things have happened over the years. My mother called my wife one time to ask my wife where she was at that moment. Confused, my wife said at home with my husband, why? Mom said she was sitting behind my wife at some event. No way! Another woman told my wife she was the spitting image of some actress. And who ever came up with the name doppelganger anyway?

Re: Your doppelganger
funny I hear that a lot too, but Lord help us, one of me is plenty
so often I've looked that word up often enough to remember its origin.. dop·pel·gäng·er mid 19th century: from German, literally ‘double-goer’.

Re: Your doppelganger
I get that all the time. I mean ALL the time I have people telling me I look like an axxhole
One factor in this that people can look at the same thing and see different things due to influenced perception. You know, like when you show a picture of a car with a well endowed woman in front of it and the guys say "What car?". It's been many years but at a point in my life I had quite a few, always black women, tell me I looked like Robin Williams. I sure couldn't see it, and I'd tell others and they couldn't see it. But I do a good Popeye impression

Re: Your doppelganger
Germans condense everything into one gigantic word.
We need the German word for "....awkwardly standing there waiting for someone to find something on their phone, trying to decide if you should stay, look at your own phone, or walk away...". K

Re: Your doppelganger
Keith, if I had just seen that picture with no identification I would have said Pierce Brosnan.
I get, "Has anyone ever told you that you look like Liam Neeson?" all the time. It's gotten so that most times I don't even let them finish the sentence before I say, "Yeah." But my real doppelgangers are my sons - four of them. I've had complete strangers come up to me and say, "Hey, you're Michael's dad!" or "I know your son Adam." My wife has even mistaken them for me and vice versa from a distance. Even Facebook's facial recognition gets us mixed up.

Re: Your doppelganger
.
Used to happen to me a lot...I would have people go out of their way to come over to me and let me know who it was that I looked like and it was always the same...got to the point where I was finishing their sentences for them. Eventually I grew and still have today a beard/Go-T to prevent it! I believe there are only so many facial structures for us humans and so there are identical or nearly so copies running around all over the place! -klb

Re: Your doppelganger
When I worked at the Chevy dealer everybody said I looked just like another guy there. I didn't see it, but when going out to lunch in my blue shirt I had people on the street call me "Lonnie" (not my name)
Decades later I was doing a bunch of research on Scotland people and history, and a few times I saw a picture of some old fellow with a beard and it was almost like looking into the mirror! More trouble is my first/last name is pretty common. Seems like everywhere there is another "me" to be confused with by name. I did some geneology research and on my father's side and got stuck in South Carolina in the late 1700s. My great-great-great-grandfather has the same first/last name as me, and there seems to be dozens of them in that area at about that time But none of them the one I'm looking for. There is even a town near Spartanburg with my last name.

Re: Your doppelganger
I always get people asking me if we have met. They tell me I look familiar - I tell them I do a lot of porn..
Back when I had my long goatee I was asked on two separate occasions if I was Tank Abbot. I tried to not be offended Personally, I have always thought I share a resemblance to Bubba Dudley. Not sure how good that is either.. |

Re: Your doppelganger
Has happened to me on a few occasions. Actually happened with my mother-in-law last year. She thought she was talking to me at a grocery store. Was pissed off at me when i didn’t respond to her talking to me.
When i actually talked to her i had to convince her i was at work at that time. *♂️

Re: Your doppelganger
Once we were at a restaurant with our daughter, who was about 10 at the time. A booth over was a girl who was 7-8, and we were all stricken. If they were the same age they'd pass as identical twins, every feature the same. Speaking for myself, we can only hope I don't have an doppelganger, just too dang ugly

I stumbled across this picture and showed it to my wife.
She asked. "Who is that girl with you? That's not me. Poor guy just looks like me.
