alternator bracket

52 chevrolet truck straight 6. I think it's 235. I can post pics if needed.
Wanting to upgrade generator to alternator. Truck is all ready 12V.

Will this bracket work?

Company says these are for the cars but if engine is the same will it work?
If not where is every body order ing there brackets from. I'm sure a lot of people are making them.

Also here is alternator I'm wanting. Is there any reason why this may not work. I understand how to wire up 1 wire.

I always make my own brackets. Here is the set up I used to convert from generator to alternator. It is a SBC with Rams horns but it shows the basic principle. I got to do it twice, the first engine had a short water pump, second long. If I was ambitious I would make it into one piece, but the engine compartment is so deep no one will be able to see the underside. The flat bar will bolt to the stock engine bosses, if bolt clearance for the stock bracket is an issue you could weld on studs.

your current generator bracket and belt adjuster will work with an alternator
all you need is a piece of 3/8'' tubing as a spacer to space the long pivot bolt

I've done several exactly the same way as Ogre suggested. Get a 3/8 bolt long enough to go through both ends of the generator bracket and put a nut and lock washer on the threads that stick out. Put the bolt in from the front.

A pipe nipple or piece of pipe that slips over the 3/8 bolt works good when you cut it to size for a tight fit between the alternator and bracket.

With some alternators you might have to modify the adjuster bracket a bit.

Update.
So I ended up having to make a bracket for the bottom pivot. My orginal bracket would not allow alternator pulley to line up with other pulleys.
So I made bracket. At first I made the stand offs little wide for alignment adjustment but didn't realize bracket would rub belt. I then go back and slot mounting holes for adjustment. I know will use spacer to fill gap alternator slot to standoffs. ( yes I could cut stand off and relocate but not going to)
Now we get tensioner bracket which wouldn't know hits alternator before slot can get to mounting bolt on alternator. So I used aluminum bracket to attach to alternator then tie that bracket orginal tensioner bracket.
Mock up yesterday. Now just go threw get a true good alignment of pulleys and run my wire.

I never would thought 1 hour job I could stretch to 8 hours. I have feeling restoring this truck will take awhile. Between balance work ot and house re model and family time. It's hard.

What belt did you use for the alternator? As I just did my bracket and forgot that the belt may need to be changed.

As of right now the same belt that was on generator. But I havnt started truck yet. That will be the true test. Current belt bout 1/2 wide v with notches in it. I think there called knot belts.

If you take the belt off again can you please measure it? My Dynamo was right close to the block and was at the start of the adjuster, looks like yours was more towards the end, so poss larger belt.
