Help with Dana 44 front axle

Which direction does the chamfer face on the thrust washer that is on the stub shaft? I can't get the small snap ring on when I put my locking hub in. Wondering if the thrust washer may be my problem. Driver side went together with no problem.

It should face towards the u-joint

You can reach in behind, and push out out the stub, while trying to put the snap ring on.

I've had the problem a few times and it was the bronze wheel bearing spacer placed in the wrong place. IIRC it was outside the outer bearing instead of inside the inner. #52

I think 52 is the seal for the torrinton bearing.
51 is the thrust washer.

You're right. Typo. Te seal would go directly onto bearing and in the picture you can see 52 is same dia. as the spindle bearing
