Real Truckin

Put my 63 shorty to some real work last weekend towing a rental loader/backhoe. The L'il Torquey 305 did the job but here in hill country North Carolina I confess to wishing for a big block once or twice. A granny 4spd would have been better than the Camaro T5, too!

Re: Real Truckin

I'd be cringing towing that with a t5. lol Man it'd be fun to put your 305 v8 against my 305 v6 towing the same load.

Nice!! Back in the 80's my '62 belonged to my brother and he towed bobcat everyday for the construction company he worked for.

No problem towing with a T5. I towed my race car and trailer with the 292 and T5. Just don't abuse it and make sure you keep the fluid level correct.

Don't abuse is the secret. I have a long history of baby-ing vehicles. Mostly because I always drove old sketchy stuff.

Only about 15 miles and I never got above 3rd gear or 40 mph on secondary roads. The best thing I did was to install the Slam 7 air bags in the rear beforehand. The OG springs had been "torch lowered" -no Bueno.
