rough starting
69 c-10 with 84 454 rebuilt 10,000 ago.installed a rebuilt 800 cfm quadrajet with electric choke,and holley fuel pressure regulator. car start's after 2 pump's of the gas pedal.run's rough till warm-up which take.'s a good while.then once it has warmed up it run's fine.the idle is a tad high. any help with my problem would really be helpful. thank's ron

Is there a thermostat installed?
What temp thermostat? Timing set to? Type of distributor?

180 thermostat,timing good,hei, truck runs between 180 and 185 in 60 to 90 degree weather

Your choke is too rich.
Adjust the choke pull off. |

Easy to find where your choke blade has to be set at.
While it’s warming up just move the blade by hand and find the spot where the idle smooths out. Then adjust the linkage to it. And before you start bending linkages take a pic of your choke for us. Might be a simple screwdriver adjustment. Last edited by geezer#99; 11-14-2018 at 07:10 PM. |
