cool '68 fleetside model

If this thing was a step side I'd be all over it...thought some of you fleet-siders might find this interesting

Re: cool '68 fleetside model

What bugs me is to build a wrecker,it`s a 1/2t with hubcaps.Keep a look out,MPC made one but it`s an 8-footer.Easy to shorten.I don`t build the vintage ones, personally.Look for the AMT`72 GMC short step and swap grilles. They were a re-make not so long ago.

Re: cool '68 fleetside model

Every time I try to bid on one of those, they always get to $50-75

Same thing with the yellow blazer model kit, I think it's called the "boondocker." Cool thing now is that AMT made a new blazer, but no 67-68 truck yet
You can buy a resin one, but they're $$$ too.

I have found a 69 resin grill on ebay, so you can use the 72 kit and have a 69

Re: cool '68 fleetside model

I'd like to find one of a Chevy '69 stepside...do they make such a creature? Or are you saying buy the two models and combine them to make one?

Re: cool '68 fleetside model

You`d have to "kit bash",there weren`t any made. You`d have to find the`72 GMC Stepside(AMT)and get that`69 grille Craig was talking about.I would only consider building a re-issue,personally.But,this kit was re-issued in the`90s and won`t be that cheap, either.

It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Never seen the grill conversion before.

There IS a company that makes shorbed boxes, stepside boxes, and 67-68 cabs/clips. They're all resin. I can't remember if the cab had a small window or not. But they are all resin kits and were posted on the board about a year ago. If I remember correctly, they all go for $50+

They have 72 resin burbs on ebay frequently, I've been thinking about getting one, but I've yet to see an auction that includes the glass for it???

Re: cool '68 fleetside model

Checkout the link in General for Diecast. I found the sub resin body with the plastic windows for like $55.00

Re: cool '68 fleetside model

I bid on this, but got sniped,as usual.I`m glad,I put an automatic bid on it without seeing that it wasn`t even complete.I was going to stay with it,though. It`s a great box in condition and artwork, but not worth $50 to me incomplete.I was just going to add it to my display. My 1st bid,I really don`t care for Ebay.
