Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

Ill throw some more controversy on the 63 4wd hubcap debate. I purchased a postcard for my 63 literature collection from 1963 taken in Berrien Springs, MI at Pennellwood resort. Postcard says taken in 1963 in a 1963 GMC truck. The truck has hubcaps....so the mystery continues?

Rusty hubcaps for a truck purchased in the same year, however my literature states no 4wd hubcaps only for Chevrolet.

No mystery, its a GMC. '62 thru '64 GMC's came with hubcaps on 4x4's, '62-'64 4x4's Chevy's did not.

Hey, on an offhand note, you know that Jimmy's from Michigan if it has a factory/dealer installed snowplow mount, lol.

It's not rust - it's patina

I thought that to be a good question.
So I googled rust vs patina.
I found some interesting info.
I posted a couple points here:

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/pts/4193448242.html

sorry to throw this wrench in the gears but hubcaps did come up. if someone could paste the hubcap thread for me I'll direct it to that to diminish confusion.

Ok....
I haven't looked at Rob's response yet (but I'm sure he'd agree)....
But I think , after years of observation....,
If you can see day-light through it....It's called rust.
If that doesn't clear it up, then.......If you're buying it, it's rust, if you're sellin it, it's "patina".

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

Wow that’s so far back it reminded me of a neighbor that built his own chassis camper in 61-62. The plans came from a magazine article in something like Mechanics Illustrated. He purchased a brand new F250 cab/chassis to bolt it on. Last time I drove by around 1990 it was parked in the driveway as if it was still being used routinely.

My dad used to be a pump jockey back in 68-71 at an old Standard Oil station back in South Haven, Michigan. His dad was working the counter too,
