Window felt install question

I am installing new window felt. Not sure how this goes.

I presume the metal part of the felt goes behind the channel felt?
Anyone have pics?

Re: Window felt install question

The belt line fuzzies are supposed to tuck between the window felts and the door jam. You will probably need to trim them. I know some companies sell them with part of the felt missing so that it can tuck in a little. Good luck. I have not found anyone that has not had problems with there's. There are a couple of threads on here on the subject.

Re: Window felt install question

I got the felt in and the window channel along the side, but now the window won’t go up all the way. The window frame is hitting the metal part of the felt-frame.

Re: Window felt install question

Read through a bunch of those posts, good info there.

I went to Brothers Truck supply and ordered a new set of the “scraper” style anti-rattles. Hope they work better. The ones I got from The Truck Shop has just fuzzy felt along the side, doesn’t seem like it would keep a lot of rain out of the door. Hopefully picking it up this Saturday.

Re: Window felt install question

Don’t be to disappointed if they are not the same as the ones in the photo. They used the same photo 67-72 as they do for the 60-63.

I will be.

Anyone ever made their own? Possibly use double-sided tape and some sort of felt or rubber wiper?

The links I posted had one person who "said" they were going to but it never happened.

I am so glad someone did this. When they come in post pics and compare, should be good info for everyone.

Re: Window felt install question

Someone on this board removed the clips and mounted them higher in the window so that the upper metal strip is above the the bottom edge of the window opening. They used vary small black screws to attach them. I have been wanting to do this but I am too chicken. Mostly because my truck has new paint and I don't want to scratch it when drilling the holes.

Re: Window felt install question

Another solution would be to install the glass in the bracket a little higher; not seated all the way in the channel. Not sure if this would work, or if the window would eventually slip.
Is it a difficult process to remove the glass from that channel and re-install it?
What adhesive do they use?

Re: Window felt install question

I think someone talks about that in one of the threads that were posted. Usually you use window tape to keep it in the channel but others have used a some liquid gasket like material but hose are vary hard to get out after installation. A while back ago I asked the same question about how deep the glass need to be in the channel and no body replied.

Re: Window felt install question

Doesn’t look like there’s a lot of channel to hold the window.

Re: Window felt install question

Check out this thread that The Rocknrod just posted. Someone on there has a photo of how deep he put the window in the window channel and what type of adhesive he used. Others have also had new glass made that is a little bit longer than stock.

Good info. Maybe it is better to take the window out of the channel, clean it up and re-install with the window in the upper position. Seems like it may be more difficult, but worth the effort.

I wonder if the ones for the 67-72 can be ‘modified’ to work in the 63??

Should be pretty close, right?

I didn’t actually order them, when I was there last week, the guy told me they are expected to arrive the 20th which was yesterday.
They’re still not showing up on the website as being available, and I’m sfraid they may be the same as the ones I got from the Truck Shop.

I just sent an email to rubbertherightway, it looks like they manufacture the correct ones that work well. Hoping I can just ride down to San Diego tomorrow and pick them up - just not sure if they are open on weekends.

Re: Window felt install question

How can you tell their not in stock? - https://www.brotherstrucks.com/64-66...tinfo/REP0466/
Oh wait your getting the earlier models.
Well shoot, when you get them post pics I'm sure people are waiting for those before they pull the trigger. I know I am.
I bought Precision and they are as OEM as any, both sides felt like. I've always thought that wiper type on the outside would be better. But so far we have struck out.

What is the difference between the 67 wipers and the 60-63?
