Cooper Restorations has a Fawn cover, they state it is not an exact match though.

I will be utilizing this truck for the transformation of Dolly into a four-wheel-drive dumper. I do not have pictures of the truck presently, but I do know the truck. History on this one goes back to 1994. I was working in Willmar Minnesota, and a farmer had this truck in his field, with a for sale sign. When I moved to Ely, I drove it home, but stalled out on highway 35 North when the distributor give up the ghost… The points worked themselves loose and you can imagine the rest of the story. After getting at home, I put dual exhaust on it, drove it around for a while, and then sold it to my brother. He did not use it much, it’s been parked in his driveway sinse 1996. Now it will come back home to me. When I dig it out of his snowbank, I will put up some pictures. 👍

Getting it out of the snowbank might take some time yet, and I may have time to work on the truck as it sits now with 2 Wheel drive, so if the moderators can hold off from moving this to the 4 x 4 section until I start tearing the K20 apart, that would be great. Thanks
Are you going to just part out the 68 4X4? Might be able to convert it to 2WD if you wanted to...of course we have not seen a picture of it yet...

Thanks...stayed tuned. It might be a few weeks because of the amount of snow as it is buried.

I will check it out… Thank you for the heads up.

OK, I checked out the site...but I did not see anything about a seat cover, nor a dash pad in Fawn...they did not have color samples either (if the color was going by another name.) If you have seen something that I missed, let me know. Thanks

I will probably part it out. I have way too many projects. The body isn’t in the greatest shape.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

I picked up the blue beast today. I kinda look official standing there...heh.

I made it home...

The pic of the three trucks together is probably going to be a favorite for awhile...

Now to carve out time in the schedule to start...not sure when it’ll happen. I’ll take a little time to photo shoot the beast to show what I’m working with.👍

The blue truck comes with a small block...the original color of the truck was red.

They, or someone there is a member here. They posted somewhere here about making the "Fawn" covers for the bucket seats. They also stated that it was not an exact match. I sent them an email asking if they make a Fawn cover for a bench seat. They said they do....

The picture of the three trucks is a good one. Nice find! Love that roll back too. Did you build that one?

Yes, I built it over many years...small block to big block swap, disc brakes and much more...original color.

Not the greatest picture, but since the snow bank has receded, I found the big bumper that will house my winch and carry a big snow plow...

Cheater used on my breaker bar to remove the shocks. Yes, I did pre-spray all bolts and nuts.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

Previous owner welded up the mounts on the front leaf springs. I’ll grind out what I can and also use the “heat wrench” to cut out what I cannot reach.

Nice. That a good looking rollback.
It will look even better as a 4wd.

Re: Dumptruck Dolly

So Im not even close to knowing how this works ... Do you take the spring mounts from K20 and just line everything up so the wheels are centered in the wheel wells on the future K30? I know there is more to it than that, but is that the basics? What all else are you going to have to do to the front area to make it 4x4 compatible? Aren't 4x4 engine cross members different? What about rear gears matching the new front axel? And how about the C30 style wheels, do they just bolt to the 3/4 ton axel like any 8 lug wheel would? Are you changing out the dually rear or keeping it?

I know, a bunch of questions haha! I have a C30 and extra 3/4 ton running gear. The cab is spoken for but I have another and an extra cab light roof. Probably nothing I would ever do, but I'm really cleaning house right now and I have a just in case pile lol.

1. Yes, using K20 spring mounts and putting them on Dolly.

2. I have to separate the transfer case and it’s support and bolt it up to Dolly’s 4speed. It’s the drive shafts that have me concerned...might have to get some made up...don’t know yet, but this is solvable.

3. For now, I am keeping the 292 6 cylinder. This means when removing Dolly’s 2wd setup, I will cut the main crossmember but leaving enough to keep the motor mounts and engine where they are. Stay tuned on that one.

4. I’ll make sure the front gears will match the rear in due time...not a big deal.

5.Keeping the C30 bud wheels will require a housing that will go over the axle/wheel ends...hard to describe right now, and I’ll cross that bridge and learn about it at the same time.

6. I am keeping the Dually rear end.
