Time for updates. Ive been crazy busy at work. So it limits my time for wrenching. Glad my not married. My wife would have fits about how little free time I get. Generally, I get home around 6:30 to 7ish. Make grub. Relax for 30 minutes, then work on the truck until 10:30 to 11:00. Im on call on weekends. Which for some reason have been extremely busy.
And lastly, I just opened a new bank account last month with a credit union. Got sick of B of A's ****. Within a month and a half, my account cleaned out by somebody who somehow got my credit card info. So my entire savings to this project went away in an instant. Due to the bank not knowing my spending habits yet, they didn't catch it. Found out when I went to buy foods and my card was declined.
Its currently in dispute. So we shall see.

So! Project check list:
Chassis wiring: Done
Engine wiring: Done
Cooling Systems: Done
Propane Systems: Done
Suspension: Done
All crossmembers: Done
Twin stick NP205 with 32 spline input and output: Done
Bed fabrication: Done enough to drive and not look like a project
Roll Cage: 95% Done. There are still a few bars I need to burn in to get it perfect, but its complete enough to take a flop. So for now, im checking it off the list. To be finished to my satisfaction at a later date.
Skid plates: Wrapping up by the end of the week

Still left to do:
Replace some axle seals that decided to start leaking.
Wrap up the interior wiring and seat placement.
Brake lines
Lengthen rear drive shaft
Get smaller diameter front driveshaft fabricated. The 3" tube Deuce front drive shaft is too close to the transmission pan to be comfortable. So I need to get one made that's 2.5"
Needs front windshield. It will still fit between the cage. I removed the cracked old one as a test.
Fabricate exhaust
And seeing that my savings for a PSC hydro kit just poofed into thin air, i need to save up another 2 grand for that and install it.

Aannnnd, that is it. So. This is slowly coming to a trail near you.

Propane is coming tomorrow. So I should have it running by this weekend.

Sorry to hear about you getting g your bank account wiped out. Banks are usually good about cleaning that up pretty quickly. I've been there before myself.

The truck is looking good. I'm liking all of the armor underneath. It should drag itself over rocks nicely.

ITS ALIVE! ITS ALLIIIIVVVEEE! MUHAHAHAHAH!
Well, mah baby spoke her first words today! But it was a nightmare getting her to do so. The MSD 6LS 6010 ignition conversion for a LS engine was not registering engine RPM. So when you crank the engine over, it would not send spark. I spent yesterday and all day today figuring it out. The cam position sensor and the crank position sensor all metered out correctly. So I checked the wiring harness and triple checked all my connections. They were all good. So I took the control box back to summit for an exchange. I figured that was the only thing that could be wrong. All else checked out. Plugged in the new box.. same issue. No RPM signal.
For the love of... Well. Figured it out after a good amount of head scratching. And I hope anybody who has this issue with the ignition conversion on a 8.1l will find this post as it seems to be a common issue that most just give up on

The pinout on the cam and crank sensors are reversed as to what we need to work with the MSD system. So, on the MSD harness pigtails, leave the brown wires where they are. Those are the grounds. Leave them be. They are in the correct location. Snip the signal and voltage wires and swap them around on the pig tails. Thats it. She fires up on the first crank

Not dead! Things are progressing nicely. Im still on track for a Hot August Nights deadline with getting her underway.
I re-designed the top of the cage as I was never happy with how it turned out originally.

Much cleaner and allows for a better lighting mounts and easier install of the front windshield.

All the skid plates are finished. All the wiring is done. Some.. I suppose street only driveshafts are in. Shortened stock deuce d-shafts. I need to get some custom ones with a longer slip shaft made. But in a 1410 yoke, they are a bit pricey. It will be road worthy, but I cant flex it out with these shafts in place. They will fall apart. Priority number one is getting this on the road. Then I will spend the $860 a pop on the d-chafts.

Looks like I need to trim a little more fender..






I ordered in a set of "Build your own exhaust system" tubes from summit racing along with mufflers etc.. The tube kit was on back order. I was told they would be shipped in a week. 4 weeks later I get a notice that they are still another month out. So I canceled it and got more or less the same thing from Jegs. Those will be here in a day or so. Then ill hammer out the exhaust system.

After that, I'll have her towed to a shop to have all the brake lines made and plumbed.

Good gods. The expression on peoples faces as it was being towed. I didnt realize just how nuts it is until I saw it going down the road. The truck driver said this was the most badass thing he has ever seen. And took some photos of it to show off to his crew. Oh, I also made IVM's facebook page as well.

Well, the cutting brakes are not going to happen right now. For some reason, adding an additional hardline and two soft lines costs $1000 more than going without. Its a little nuts to me. I was told when I dropped the truck off that it would be under $1k to get the brake lines done. At around 3:00, I was informed that it would be $2500 for everything including plumbing the cutting brakes. Yet only $1500 for non cutting brake plumbing.. Well, it means that I will be eating instant ramen for a few weeks as $1500 cleans me out. But it will be rolling. Thats what matters.

That is crazy. I replaced all the hard lines in my truck for $60. What is so special about your truck to justify that expense? I can see a few hundred more for good braided flex lines and a few hundred for labor, but aside from that I am at a loss.

They told me 10 hours of shop labor either way. So apparently, two additional flex lines and some more hardline costs $1000. Lol.
When the owner of IVM told me under a grand, its exactly what I expected. Knowing the costs involved. I was properly shocked to hear $2500. Even $1500 is nuts. But it would cost me $200 to have it towed to the hydro-line shop, then back to my place. I can do the entire truck in steel braided nylon brake lines for $500. Which is just a good these days as hard line. But im out of time. I have obligations to fill and a couple sponsors to keep happy. At this point.. Screw it. I just need it mobile. Ive been obsessing over this truck and working on it until midnight for way too long.
I say, just get it done. I just want to drive the bloody thing home. Then go beat the ever living piss out of it on a trail the following day
