cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets

OK, I finally found time to bend and install the cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets I had made. I also picked up a set of speakers and installed them as well to see how everything fit. With that said, I now feel comfortable selling the extra 10 sets I had made.

These are brand new speaker brackets I created off a set of aftermarket aluminum ones I found in a local salvage yard. I took measurements off of the originals, transferred them to CAD, made some adjustments to get them to fit better, and had them cut out on a CNC plasma cutter. It was more cost effective to have 12 sets made total (instead of just one set for the same price)...thus leaving me extras to offer for sale.

These will fit most 6x9 speakers, however, I found out the hard way they will not accomodate 6x9's with 4" diameter magnets. With that being said, I assume you could make them work with the use of a small spacer or slight modifying and repositioning of the speaker bracket itself. 6x9's with a 3 1/4" magnet fit absolutely perfect with no modifications needed. These will be delivered bare steel, so you'll need to paint to match your interior or exterior. Basic self-tapping sheet metal screws will be provided. I decided to use stainless steel button head screws and lock nuts when I mounted these in my '73, felt it matched my interior better.

Please study the below picture carefully to ensure these brackets will fit your truck. I believe some of the early 3-point belt trucks had the retractors mounted where the top of these brackets sit...and therefore will not work.

As of right now, all spare 10 sets are still un-bent, but I will be bending all of them Sunday morning (4/20), and will be ready to ship the following week.

Price for a set of these will be $62 shipped to your door (lower 48 only). I feel this is very comparable to those carpeted 6x9 boxes...and look 10 times better. This will also cover my initial expense to have these made plus the time I spent getting them to work. I won't be getting rich off these.

If interested, please reply here and send me a PM. I accept and prefer PAYPAL, but will take money orders or cashiers checks.

I will update the thread with the quanity I have left as sets are sold.

Thanks!

Re: cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets

Jeff
I am interested in a set but got to talk it over first because money is tight.

Will they fit in a 1984 using the stock screw points or are new wholes needed? Any interference with the stock bench seat when they where in the 87?

Thanks

Re: cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets

New holes are needed to mount these. They will fit all 73-87 pickups.

I do not believe there will be seat interference...as the originals I found fit with no problems. To be safe, could someone post a pic of their cab with the seat all the way back...I'l be able to tell by that.

Re: cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets

OK, all PM's sent I have replied to. Once payment is made I'll update quanity left.

I have also received a couple questions on these brackets. These brackets are mounted with three fasteners, 1 on top, 2 on bottom. Since these brackets mount tight to the rear cab and door opening, I feel that is sufficient. However, if you would like additional mounts on top, here is what I suggest...and just might do if I make a second batch of these. Cut off the single top tab, then bend up two small angle brackets. You can then mount the angle brackets to the cab lip, and then mount the speaker bracket to them. If anyone would like to do this, I can supply a flat piece of 3/4" wide steel and you can make your own...free of charge. You just have to let me know before I ship your brackets.

Also, I don't suspect the sound quality will be affected by these speaker brackets compared to the stock 4x10 brackets. However, I plan to sound deaden the backside of my brackets, and perhaps put insulation in the cab corners...just to be on the safe side.

Of course, if you have any questions, please drop me a PM.

Thanks!

Oh man, those look great! I would love to drop the $55...A GREAT price for custom fabricated piece, but money is tight. Will you be making any more in the future or is this a one time deal?

Thanks!

As far as making more. It all depends on how these sell and what type of feedback I receive. I would like to, but it involves a fair amount of work and $$ on my end.

Re: cab corner 6x9 speaker brackets

OK folks, all the brackets went out today...here is a pic of them on their way. I slightly under estimated potsage on these, especially for those further away from me. Soo, some went 6 day parcel post, others went priority. Please PM me and let me know how the installs go and if you have any feedback...good or bad. Thanks again everyone!

I did have someone back out. SBTork was next in line, sent him a PM today. If he doesn't respond or is no longer interested, you are next in line.
