Engine code question

Does anyone know what the 1st year for WA coded 283 was, 64 or 65?
I'm reading the below pad as a 65 Flint 175 hp 283 for manual trans light duty truck. But the "II" is throwing me... would expect something like 0911, but not 09II - (in other words, 11th day of Sep would make sense, but am wondering if an "I" stamp was used instead of a "1" stamp. Hmmm.
Thanks in advance for any insight.

Re: Engine code question

I’ve seen that before.
An I stamp used instead of a 1.
To confirm year check the date code on the bellhousing flange.

Re: Engine code question

Thx geezer, I will if I get the chance (I’m in work on purchasing it, have not seen in person yet). Block casting number, which i also have, casts a wider net than the stamped pad, so it’s not much help - but the date code would certainly iron it out. Thanks for the reply.

EDIT: and thank you for the note on the I’s!

Re: Engine code question

Has anyone ever seen a 64 block with the WA suffix?
Were ALL truck 283s in the 60-66 era gray? Has anyone ever seen a green one - which I normally associate with only the truck 327..?

1960 C30 and up 283s are green Jocko , however I cannot confirm that on other year C30s, but can on larger trucks 60-66. C10 C20 283s are gray.

1960 C30
