Disconnecting passenger side air bag?
I know this isn't a Chevy truck question, and I'm not sure this is where the question should be posted. So if this isn't the correct place, mods please feel free to move it. I got a 99 Honda Accord from a buddy of mine for damn near free as something my wife could drive most of the weather is good to save on gas and also keep miles off our suburban. Problem is we have 4 kids so that means one needs to be in front and there is an air bag. This car isn't new enough to have a switch or sensor to turn it off when a kid is up there as far as I know. Can I just disconnect the wires to that air bag or will it still be possible for it to deploy? I'd remove the whole thing but haven't seen a cover to cover up the hole that would be in the dash and don't know if that cover is removable. Any info would be awesome.
Thanks, Chris

Re: Disconnecting passenger side air bag?
Prior to the years with sensors, the GM trucks have a slot in the dash to put the ignition key in to turn the PS airbag off.
Some were on the dash and I believe some were in the glovebox:

Re: Disconnecting passenger side air bag?
I'm familiar with the car. I've got one in my driveway. If I can remember I'll look into a way to make it happen. I'm thinking you'd have to unplug the bag and simulate its presence (electrically speaking). Otherwise the whole system will be inoperable
