New Kentucky member here !!

Hey guys and gals just checking in for my first post just picked up my first c10 the other day and was looking through photos online and getting ideas on what I want to do to mine and ran across this site and seen how much info and knowledge of the c10 is here so I wanted to join and get ideas and opinions on what everyone has to offer..

Alittle about my project it is a 1966 Gmc long bed 3 speed with a 292 high torque l6

I'm debating on what to do leave it long bed or make it short let me know what you guys think on that I'm torn between the ideas but I definitely want to make it low no matter what..


What do you guys think about the l6 3spd combo ?

I love the ls platform with a carb so I was kinda thinking 5.3 with th350 or 400

Let me know what your thoughts are and pics for inspiration are welcome for me

I'm liking it. Does it run well? If it does I'd lower it and drive it as is for a while. It's hard to form an attachment to a truck that is in pieces ( I know all about that)! But if you drive it for a while you'll learn to love it and it will help keep you motivated. Keep the GMC grill!

It runs and drives great and the Gmc grill is defiantly staying for sure it's one of the main reasons I was drawn to the truck as you can tell with it setting by my 2010 Gmc sierra Denali beside it in the first pic

Roll it with what ever in the engine. This era of trucks just look cool rolling down the road.

welcome to club. Also from Kentucky. My truck is also 6 cyl 3OTT. I drive it every where. Mine has a 373 rear gear so top road speed is barely keeping up with traffic but the rag runs so well I can't bring myself to change it. Also if your on Facebook we have a c10 club Kentucky group on there. Hope to see you out and about this summer.

Cool truck. I like the GMC GMC combo you got. I agree with the others, run it like it is for now that way you really get to know the truck and then start figuring out what you want to change. I'm also curious why you like the LS/carb combo. There are a few guys on here who tried running that and hated it, only to eventually go all in and run the LS like it was intended. I'm not saying it can't be done properly, but it just seems like if you're going to drop in a motor with as much potential as the LS, why choke it with a carb?

Mostly because of the retro look with the reliability of the ls engine I'm not looking for a speed demon I just want something to cruise in but now that I'm starting to look at different ideas the l6 might not be to bad to keep and truest would find it more favourable if it was stanced right with original running motor trans an gears than upgraded modern drivetrain... but to each his own I guess I'm defiantly all eyea and ears for ideas and pics of different long bed c10s of everyone has for some inspiration....
