Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Well long time no post.

After the clunking noise it lead to a discovery of multiple issues. I never got rid of the clunk noise tho...

Ill stand by my word to this day though that the drive shaft telescoping part the shop added was bad. On top of the other work they did shortening.

The play in the slip yoke was also excessive. Took it out and returned to the rebuilder.

I took the the rear apart. I rebuilt the diff with a timken bearing set and us gear 3.73s to replace the 3.36s. New axle bearings. One of the old axle bearings felt rough and needed replaced. Could be the clunk.

Dont be too harsh on the wear pattern. When I set it up exactly by the book it had a toe to toe pattern. fix is more backlash. well that started giving goofy looking patterns so I set it up with best looking pattern and everything else within spec.

Rear is full assembled and back in the car. Trans guy called earlier and said its ready for pickup. It needs the trans reinstalled and she should be good. I hope so as I plan on taking leave next month and driving her to Oklahoma and then to Austin for the Lonestar roundup. Wish me luck. Also I ordered new bags for the rear and a electric fan for it. I will keep yall posted

I am glad you are diving in to get the drive train correct! What's wrong with the trans? Hopefully everything is good after this round of repairs. ...... I am pumped I just drove my wagon for the first time tonight!

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

So I know most one here probably don't like the 60s kustom or lowrider feel as much, BUT she is a 1964 with front, back and side to side. So, For now im going to try to get the car in a flat white and get some blue metal flake on the roof. Im going to leave the black steelies and I have bullet lug nuts just need to get bullet center caps and beauty rings. If yall seen the baby blue in person you would understand why it has to go!

This is a great build! Good job. I love how the paint is now but it is your car. Do what makes you happy! Any ideas for the roof rack yet?

Roof rack is to be determined! it will all have to do with how I go with paint.

Im also debating painting the car back to the factory blue. OR paint it the factory kind of olive green?? that came on these cars aswell with a whiteroof maybe.

ive had this car now for close to a year and am still clueless how I want to do the paint

all I know is I need to get all the overspray off all the trim, bumper etc. and start stripping that blue asap I don't want people to think I did that to her!

Re: !964 Biscayne. Birdie Sue.

Wow, its been awhile since ive posted. Since last post he car has seen over 3000 miles. No real issues. Being active duty military I take leave every April.
I took my leave this year so I could finally go to the lone star round up in Austin. It was a success and Austin was fun. Here are some pics of the some fun that went on.

Before I left I decided to finally build the roof rack I had wanted to for awhile

7/16 cold roll

first basic frame

Then decided to do something fun and goofy. Over hangs the rear glass a few inches

I dont have many pics of building the "basket" but here she is

The plan was to rust it, tack a mooneyes badge my buddy cut out to it, use weathered boards and pass it as some old roof rack we came across. Strap our bikes to it to go to austin tx.

Never added the boards and only pic with the bikes up there

Speaking of bikes when i was home I found 1 moto mag to go with the mongoose frame Ive had forever

I quit progress on that when I went to OKC to this old shop Masseys to get some push through bullets for the steelies. He has been opened for ever and I love going up there and buying from him.

He had a supreme on display and he cut me a smoking deal. I had to wait for them to come in so that weekend I got to work on the roof.

Stripped the roof, half way there in this pic. Only pic I have. Giving my oldman some fatherly advice.

In primer

2 tiny quarter size dings we wiped with mud. High build and blocked it. turned out pretty straight.

silver base with a ton of silver flake and a pinch of blue flake. Lots of clear and a good cut and buff.

Pics cant do the roof justice. Looks so good in person. Everybody loves it.

My wheels came in a few days before the show. Whole new look for the car

Gassin up for Austin

Stop for a bite

?Cruising down

Most the pics are on my buddies phones so I will have to get more. I dont even have a pic of them at the show. I will get some from the trip tho. Here are a few more of the car cleaned up.

I will get more pics soon and post again. Happy sunday folks!
