Question Fuel Gauge Question?

Hey fellers got another problem.
My fuel gauge stays on empty. I have checked all the connection. But it does not move. Until I unpluged the wire from the fuse box. When I did this the fuel gauge went pasted the full mark. Have any you fellers had a problem like this?
Any help would be appericated.

i had the same problem with my 71. went for 3mo without a fuel gauge. i ran a test wire from the sending unit to the terminal in the fuse box and it worked! come to find out when i pulled the tank to claen it and put it back in i pinched the wire between the tank and the mounting tab(lol). it had grounded the curcit and made it rean no OHM's. i got the wire out from between the pieces and taped it up, its been working fine ever since. you might want to check it for a bad spot in the wire somwhere or pinched and grounded.

You might want to unplug the brown wire on the sending unit on top of the tank. If the gauge goes past full you have a bad sending unit or the float is full of gas. If it stays on empty the wire is grounded.
