$600.00 Fuel Pump?? Help Me!!!!!!

Just called around for a fuel pump price for my 97 Blazer, 4 door, 4.3 engine. Prices from 600 at BM to 258 at the zone!!!!!!! Does anybody know of another place to ty to get a pump fo rless? Mail order is OK, don't need the car rite away!

If you have the pump removed, check on earlier years and see if they are the same. I bought one for a 87 s10 blazer, and it was no where near that much.

Ouch, The joys of late model vehicles. I checked here:

and found these variations depending on brand and model. I have found RockAuto to be one of the more reasonable places for quality parts. Your other option is salvage but who knows what you'll get and the same goes for the zone and a1 crapdone. I steer clear of them regardless of cost if it's anything I will mind replacing once a month. That "lifetime warranty" becomes pretty meaningless the third time you're laying on your back trying to wrestle that tank out especially in winter. If it were me I'd stick with Delco or GM OEM unless you can find a high perf aftermarket part like Edelbrock.
Hard to believe they can't build a pump that will last longer than that for less than a $100.00 bill in the 21st century.

it's probably the sam deal as my 97 astro van it all comes as one piece sending unit pump and canister it was anywhere from 279- 399 i beat on the tank with a rubber mallet got another 1000 miles out of it was 150 miles from home when it went out luckily it was the town where i used to live it just died while ideling in front of a buddies house we unhooked the trailer he pushed me to a girlfriends house with his burb i pulled it out there called another buddy with a shop in town the next morning an he ordered me one up for $239 give me a carburated small block anyday $20 and 15 minutes no wrasteling 25 gallons of fuel in and out sorry to hear about the pump but there not cheep by the way check the pigtail on the pump to the harness a bad connnection here is what is usualy the caues of the moter burning out you may need one of those as well

try s10warehouse on ebay I have been buying alot of stuff from him and is very resonable. you have to go thru ebay tho. he is a s10 junk dealer with vehicles as low as a 1000 miles on them. he takes paypal and is a very fast shipper. I know used dont sound as good as new but at least it will be gm stuff not aftermarket

What ever you pay for it be carefull and smart about removing the tank. A local garage in my area just burned to the ground because of a mishap with spilled gas and a spark caused by a falling light. I recently replaced a pump in my mom's suburban that is the same year as your blazer. It was difficult due to the fact that the tank had rusted to the upper straps. We had to use a hydraulic jack to seperate the tank from the vehicle. The recent fire i mentioned was caused while removing the tank from a similar suburban.

I just did the pump in my wife's jeep. I was really shocked by the prices of these units. I wound up going with a salvage unit. I figure, how many more miles do I really need to get out of the pump if the Jeep already has 165,000 on the clock!

I was also disappointed to find that its immpossible to syphon gas out these days.

I replaced the fuel pump/sending unit on my 2000 GMC last fall. Part cost $220 !
It wasn't a bad job though, we dropped the tank. It is MUCH easier on a pickup to unbolt and slide the bed back

You probably have it fixed by now but. The 93's+ usually have an assembly. Thats means it comes with everthing just pop the whole unit out and replace. It's not uncommon for them to cost upwards of $400. The bright side is most pumps have a life time warrenty so you only have to buy them once and most parts stores you can haggle with to get the price down a bit. When it comes to a item over a hundred bucks I always ask what is the best price they can do on the part. You would be supprised at how many times a national chain store can drop $20, $30 off the price of a part. In the field we have to do this to make money on parts we sell to customers.

Hi, Just did one in a 96 blazer wt.4.3 vortec ,Got the pump at Checker for 112.00 , 600 ah someone is seeing you comeing , pump needs to have 52 to 60 lbs pressure on the 96 would guess yours would be same , Good luck Slim

Three of my 97's had fuel pump problems, all turned out to be ground problems. These pumps are notorius about this..........Check before you buy...........Kirby
