72 jimmy 350 sm465 oil leak

I have a 72 jimmy has a 350 sm465 4 speed and it’s leaking oil somewhere underneath up inside of the bellhousing. The throwout bearing is caked with oil and I’m getting bad clutch chatter on takeoff. Any idea Where the leak is originating from these pics?

I don't know (sorry) but are you running it open like that (without the inspection cover?)?

I was thinking it might better to not put a cover on until I get the leak fixed so the oil has a place to go instead filling up in the inspection cover

I have rationalized many things like that through the years as well To me that is just a place for all kinds of stuff to enter and cause problems if left open.

Re: 72 jimmy 350 sm465 oil leak

Are you losing engine oil or gear oil if from the transmission I would say the input shaft seal on the transmission which would explain the oil getting into your clutch. Better pull the fill plug on the transmission to check your oil level should be even with the threads on the fill plug.
