Re: no more tailgate chains

I guess when it hangs all the way down there's no bumper to hit or chains to hold it level.....just lower it carefully....

Re: no more tailgate chains

A buddy of mine did this to his truck years ago. His biggest complaint was trying to push both buttons to drop the gate. Clean look.

Here's the Mar-K tailgate with the correct Fleetside script. The panel is from the original tailgate.

How did you get the fleetside scipt in there? Do you have any pictures of the swap?

The entire script panel was cut from the old tailgate, then fitted and welded into the new one. Sorry, no photos.

Re: no more tailgate chains

I like the chains ran my truck for 20 years in the scrap business.I wish the new chevy trucks used chains.I put 454 engines on my tail gate the factory gates are some bad ass mothers.Plus to me the chain look just makes the truck way different look.

Not many people on this site can say they still own there first truck and work it for 20 years and still be in this good of shape Ya i put newer doors on 2 years after i got it.From my grand father. It still has the factory 2 speed power glide But its been up dated to everything that came on a 1972 chevy 3/4 ton still have the coil rear end.

In one of the worst business that you can do with a truck Hauling scrap iron
