Engine buildup archives ? 307

Anyone ever do a 307 buildup? Dyno or desktop. I have faith these engines have promise. Some nice heads with 450 cam-Qjet , and what have I got? Thinkin about droppin it in a 2300lb car. I just landed a fresh one. and no I don't need to hear about how sorry your 307 is with 2 million miles and no oil changes thank you.

There was a discussion on this board about a 307 stroker before....
a 307 with a 400SB/383 crank in it. I still think that would be a really
cool, and different engine, if you could figure out the right combo of
rods and pistons to make it work. I think we figured out that it would
be a 333 after being stroked...
It would make tons of torque with that long stroke too . I saw some
World Products "305" heads designed for 283, 305, and 307 engines
in the Northern Auto Parts catalog. I think they were regular S/R heads.

Wink

We tore down the 307 tonight, whew man!! the bores looked kinda scary IE 8 years of corrosion, the bottom end looked brand new, and I found no sign of turn on the rod bearings. One thing I saw that scared me though,... we poured a little varsol in the valley to help the clogged oil pan drain... I spotted a couple of white cracks just above the bandaids, then as quickly as they appeared they were gone. Do I have a cracked block? Also noted this motor has rods marked O, are these anything special? Do they compare to X rods? Crank looks like new under the lids. If this block is cracked I believe I just found myself a 327 crank. Hmmm.... lets see small journal rods stroked 0.10, bored out 350 block say maybe 90 over, ..... hmmm... naaaaa. Guess I'll have to just think this one over.
