Blasting prices.

Can anyone give me a guesstimate on how much it's going to cost to have a cab and frame from a 72' C10 blasted? Just trying to plan out the finances before I take it to my accountant. (aka the mrs.)

Re: Blasting prices.

The blaster we use charge us around $300 for the frame. $500 to $600 for the cab painted with epoxy. A 68 corvette cost us $600 for walnut shell blasted

Re: Blasting prices.

Thanks for the info guys. I found a couple local shops in the phone book but they were closed when I called. Guess I'll try again tomorrow and hopefully they'll be pretty decent.

Re: Blasting prices.

Is blasting the metal the best way to do a paint job or have the best results...what are the downsides to not doing that?

There is a company in Fountain Inn SC called Carolina Chem Strip that advertises in Hemmings Muscle Machines.I belive they dip the whole body or part in chemicals rather than blast, but they might do both. I don't know anything about them, just saw their ad. They have a website- www.chem-strip.com

Re: Blasting prices.

Here are the prices WWW.chem-strip.com quoted me.

CAB ONLY 650 DOORS TAILGATE FENDERS 140 EACH HOOD 190 BED 450

Those prices are with them taking care of the shipping. I'll try to get a reply from them today on doing the shipping myself and post that as well.

Re: Blasting prices.

do they dip the parts in primer when they are done? If NOT , you will have tons of bare metal that will be almost impossible to get coated. up inbetween roof panels, all kinds of hidden places. Bare metal rusts FAST.

Re: Blasting prices.

This may be a stupid question, but do you send the cab to be blasted before or after you do the rocker / cab corner repairs?

If after, how do you assure that you haven't missed something?

Not a stupid question at all. I've been pondering that one myself. I'm not sure of their process vintagesteel. I heard about them from 69lemans.

That would be great cdowns. I'm only about an hour out of High Point. I called a place named Ellis Plastic Blasting today and they quoted around 300-350 for the cab and 200-250 for the frame. Not sure if they powder coat tho.
