Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

So this frame has been kickin my a**. Got about 8 more brackets and its off to get dipped.stll going back and fourth on what to use in the front. Been looking at jw rod garage mii kit and dans metric crossmember. Still not sure. Jw's kit is complete with air bags for $1780 shipped. Dans crossmember only is $580 shipped. I would think it would easily cost $1100 to get everything else with bags.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

Awesome looking suburban! I have a 54' burb myself, but it is in nowhere near as nice of shape as yours. Can't wait to see more progress; and I am glad to see you are going with IFS versus doing a frame swap. That is a much better route IMO.

Looking at the location and it looks like an auto trans (mount on tailshaft) support.

You are moving fast. I had mine '51 for a little over 2 years before I started tearing it down. I couldn't not drive it around until I was ready to build it.

My 50 still has the crossmember and I don't know what it's for because nothing sits on it, other than the frame where it bolts too it doesn't touch anything. If I can remember I snap a pic tomorrow.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

Here ya go Chizzler. I am pretty sure Justin (correct me if I'm wrong) has this priced at $699.00 retail and I know you guys get a discount off of that. It goes from the the top of the cowl all the way to the floor; it includes the kick panels. The recess can be made custom also for those that want more/less space.

As you can tell, this ones been sitting a bit, LOL.

Re: 53 BURBAN barn find

More progress.got the notches in.running board brackets are on the ground that puts the running boards about 1" up.added about 4" to the notches to fit the frame ang get a little taller.had to cut a little bit on the inside of the frame for the rack and pinion boots.fits very snug.
