Re: the 67-72 artistic shots thread

Here's a recent, low light cell phone pic. Meaning it's not the greatest quality, but I think it's still pretty cool. I actually used my daily to shine some light on the truck, with a sheet over the lights to make it not so obvious.

Ekliptix, What a amazing shot(post#716). I had never heard of light painting before. I sent your pic to my brother who is a amateur photographer and he told me about light painting. Lucky for me he came here for the holidays and brought his camera gear with him. He and I spent several fun nights trying to do light painting. We had a blast together and I now have a new hobby. Your pic is just awesome and I thank you for posting it and introducing me to light painting. Here is a shot that my brother and I did. We took several exposures at 1 second shutter speed and moved the different lights around the scene each time. I stacked the shots in Photoshop and added some clarity in camera raw.

Nice pic, I might have to get a tripod eventually so I can try this.

Re: the 67-72 artistic shots thread

I enjoy taking pictures of vehicles in their state of decay. Recently I discovered this 68 Chevy in a shed near my home. I would like to locate the owner so I can take some better pics and find out what his plans are for the truck.

Re: the 67-72 artistic shots thread

I have others, but they are not Chevy trucks. Here are links to my website with car pics and to a Flickr account I am starting to build with pics I titled "Field Art".

Enjoy!

You sure did! I'm working on longer exposure times (30 seconds or more) and more "painting" with a flashlight. I used a 48" florescent shop light and a stage/theater light for that photo. Both were 110V.

Interesting. I used this little gas station battery powered light, over 30 seconds. It's not super powerful which I liked, since I could remain in one spot longer to make that area brighter. Plus, I tapped it to the end of a broomstick to get the light coming down on to the truck and keep the light source out of the camera's 'eye', and to help keep me out of the picture. If the photo ended up too dark, I'd keep the shutter speed at 30 seconds and the ISO the same, and just open the aperture up a little to make it the picture brighten up a little on the next attempt.

A couple exposures to poach parts from in photoshop is pretty much a requirement for the 'best' result.

Looking forward to your next results!

Btw, here are a cpl more using the same light + 30 second method.

Re: the 67-72 artistic shots thread

Nice job on the bodyline highlight on the Vette.
I just picked up a similar light at Lowes. I'll use a pole also and some cardboard for a "barn door". I can't wait to use it.

Here is a shot from the first night when we were using the theater/stage light. I used a transparent Christmas dish that was green for the green tint. Just taped it over the end of the theater light. The red comes from me laying in the truck bed and bouncing the theater light off a orange home depot 5gal bucket that was in the bed. My brother then took the shot. There are about 20 shots in this one pic. Photoshop, mask, lighten blend mode. I'm going to start getting real lights and gels soon. Between the first night and the second night, I washed the truck. Photo in post 728 is second night(clean truck), photo below is first night(dirty truck)

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
