73-87 Crew cab turning radius?

Anyone know the advertised turning radius on a CC 2wd both dually and single wheel is there is a difference.

I dont think there's a difference as the spindles, a-arms, & steering components are the same.

So no one knows the specs gm put out? Scoti how are you liking yours? I picked one up to replace my 01 Dodge but the 30 seconds I have driving it sure seemed to take a lot more space to turn than the Dodge even though its only a foot longer.

I wont lie..... its not good. But it was liveable. I now have it dropped but no real road time to fully know how much effect the spindles had (how much worse it might be if any diff @ all).

Like any situation, I adapted my driving habits to compensate.

So how much of a nightmare is it going to be turning this trailer with one of these square CCLB's? It was doable with my 01 CCSB but the 01 turns tighter than my 86 CCLB. The axles are pretty far back on this trailer.

well it cant be any worse then my ramp truck that is 28ft tail to push bumper and let me tell you i use to daily drive it on marthas vineyard with zero problems and that was with stock parts and the like. i think that on the 2wd you can grind down the stops some.....might be 4wd. dont remember. but it really is not that bad. just have to plain alittle better on the turns but nothing big.

you'll get used to it, aint no big thing....just be careful in parking lots, with the length & turning radius, you can get trapped if people box you in, unless your not too worried about your sheetmetal. i always park way out with no one around...

Ever see a semi pull a boiler or something truly large on a 110' trailer? It's similar to that but you don't need a permit to drive through town

Like the others mentioned before if you can pull a trailer with any kind of skill then you won't have any real problems turning wise, you'll just get to do some "many point" turns if you end up somewhere tight. With no trailer I can make a U turn if it's 3 lanes both ways but you still have to nail the geometry to make it in one shot. My CC is a cab and chassis dually though so I'm not sure if my steering is further restricted beyond that of a standard on ton dually. On a positive note the wheel base controls most trailers pretty well backing up so it's never been a "real" concern for me. One thing to get used to though is that you really can get blocked in by other cars pretty easy. I got to wait at safeway one day (just the truck no trailer) for about an hour one day for one of the two SUVs opposite me to leave and I learned pretty quick to check for that and park in the back if need be. Most diagonal spaces in parking lots you can get stuck in if they fill up around you with trucks and big SUVs.

I'd rather drive my old square than anything happening these days, what you trade off in power, handling, and maneuvering isnt something you really notice you're missing. I can do anything that any other truck on the road is legally allowed to do and get to do it in that oh so good looking square body!

Is there anything that we can fabricate or change to make the turning radius better? What makes the newer trucks turn so much better? I saw a newer 2010ish 2500 longbed turn right into a tight parking spot and it would have taken me at least two tries to get in there sideways...

I have found having as much caster in the alignment as possible makes any truck turn sharper.

I was under the impression that our control arms don't have provisions for setting caster but only camber and toe...
