How many Squarebodies have you had

How many Squarebodies have you had or been in the family? I currently have 2. My dad started it all with a new 79 K10. My brother has had 3, 76 c10 short step side, 77 c10 long bed and a 82 c10 long bed that he bought off our uncle. My uncle also had a 79 c10 short step side. My grandpa had a 81-82 c10 long bed.

Re: How many Squarebodies have you had

I've had one: my grandpa's 1977 K10 that I reluctantly sold when I started my business.

My family has owned more squarebodies than I can count.

84 C10 Silverado I got at 17. Dad was right about that one. I still have it, mostly it sits here reminding me of how right he turned out to be on many topics.

88 Sub in bare bones front seat only trim. If there was a trim level less than Custom Deluxe this thing was a level below that. I drove it 25 miles and parked it. Later the EFI landed on my 84 and the rest of the motor became part of a 4x4 S10 Blazer bastard that was absurdly unreliable.

78 C10 Custom Deluxe with quite a few more amenities than the Sub. You know, things like carpet and a cloth seat and stuff. I bought it for parts bit it was too nice for that so I drove it. Sold a short while later, I needed a parts truck not another project.

Re: How many Squarebodies have you had

I bought my first new one in '78, then two more new in '84. Six more used drivers that I still have five. Two heavy trucks. Seven parts trucks. Two running, driving. Total=20. Two drivers are an '86 Sub and '85 crew, still want to finish my two '86 swb's. My dad had four from '73 until '82.

Re: How many Squarebodies have you had

'74 GMC 1500 Custom. This is number one.

Before that: '66 Suburban. Sold to buy a house... (sorta counts?)

Work trucks I've used, or been assigned...

Too many to count. Everything from C70s to Bison, C50 hay trucks, one-ton 4x4 crummies, 3/4 ton plow-rigs, and on down to the common 1/2 ton trucks favored by landscpers, carpenters, delivery companies, etc, etc, etc.

Re: How many Squarebodies have you had

I'm on number 3 right now.

When I was a little kid (late 90's, just to tell you how young I am), we had a 1984 Chevy Suburban C20 Silverado, 454, automatic.

My grandpa (dad's dad) gave us his 1988 Chevy Suburban in 2006, we sold it last spring. That one was an R20 Silverado, 454, automatic. Had 98,000 miles original when we sold it.

Now, I have my 1984 Chevy C20 Custom Deluxe. My other grandpa (mom's dad) gave this one to me. It had a 305, eventually when it's done it'll have a 350 out of a 1972 C10, and an SM465 trans.

Re: How many Squarebodies have you had

Since '73, 7. There's only been one year (2012) where we didn't have at least one running square on the farm.

Here's the list:
'73 C30, 454 4-spd, purchased new, sold '93
'79 C10, I6 auto?, purchased new, sold '82
'82 C10, 6.2 th400, purchased new, sold '89
'87 GMC 1500 4x4, 350 700r4, purchased '89, sold '11...trying to buy this back
'86 K10, 305 700r4, purchased '94, sold '12
'86 CUCV M1008, 6.2 th400, purchased '13, sold '14
'79 C10, Olds 350 th400, purchased '13, using it daily.

Funds pending, I'm on the hunt for another beater to complement Lester...thinking either a K10 to beat around on the farm or possibly a C30 dump. We'll see.
