Pismo Dunes Trip

We are current spending the week in Pismo CA for New Years. I always wanted to take the truck out on the dunes. This year I got my wish! Here are some awesome shots that my brother in law took while out on the dunes. I finally got to test the 4 wheel drive and really test the truck under loads. She did Great! It feels so satisfying to finally enjoy the fruits of all my hard work and money spent. Here are a few glamor shots. I'll post more later our internet is being dumb.

Re: Pismo Dunes Trip

I didn't really air down. They floated really well. I am hoping to have some more picture tomorrow after we go out one last time.

Re: Pismo Dunes Trip

Awesome. That's on my bucket list. Is there plenty of room there for camping out and away from crowds?

Re: Pismo Dunes Trip

SoCalK20 - it all depends on when you go. Each holiday weekend is different. This year New Years is pretty lite on crowds. Most guys use cones and caution tape to mark off huge areas that keep family safe and parking for vehicles.

Re: Pismo Dunes Trip

My last day on the dunes turned out to be a flop. The new holley fuel pump went out. So I didn't ending up getting any of the rooster tail pics/vid or hill climbs I had hoped to get. But here are a few more pics that we took the second day.

Re: Pismo Dunes Trip

I'm local, it gets packed out there on 3-day holiday weekends and when the kiddies get out from school. Plus the perfectly warm dry weather we have been getting lately, draws crowds on the weekends. It is a great place to play, but be careful of the ATV's, lots of inexperienced riders.

Re: Pismo Dunes Trip

In 1976 I spent some time going to school at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Pismo is just down the road from the University. I had a lot of fun on the dunes in my 72 Chevy 4 x 4 stepside. A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, but that truck is still parked in my garage!
