Frame Dilemma

OK So if any of you have seen my truck its not that far along. I started with C20 long bed. Had a C10 long bed that i parted out. I wanted a short bed which is now what it is. Well what I mean by that is that I cut down that C10 chassis. So now its short. I am starting to wonder if I should just cut down the frame from that truck that is a C20.

Reasons

It has a matching serial number.

It has 3/16" steel versus the C10 at 1/8", so thicker and stronger.

So i cant help but wonder will it help with handling and drag racing if I have a stiffer stronger frame?

I think I am going to go ahead and do it but I really want to know what all you guys think that have done a ton of fab work, because I am really considered a beginner at best.

If you want to see where the truck is right now just click on my build in my signature.

Thanks for the help.

Re: Frame Dilemma

Having the thicker frame will not help make a truck better on the drag strip. But for people to answer they would probably need to know what you real goal is with your truck as you are not clear here.

A successful strip chassis transfers energy to the tires and hooks. A stiff chassis is not as successful at transferring energy at the strip.

I would stay with the c10 chassis and build it with components that will work best for what you want the truck to do ie (drag strip, towing, corner carving)
