I had not seen those before. I agree that, that is not a bad price.

Re: Trick Flow Aluminum Double Hump Heads for SBC

I guess can see this if someone is looking to 'nth' degree trying to make a pre 67 fuelie motor clone,, but .. They are really 'too' close simblance of the early camelhumps (pre 68 and the camelhump castings that had accessory holes).

They claim they flow 'about the same as a set of street ported camelhumps... which in the hands of a GOOD shop with experience and a flow bench,, they could get the old camelhumps up around 230-240cfm,, about the same as a mildly cleaned up set of Vortecs. (Not that I'm a Vortec fan,, just saying). With a little 175cc intake runner they should have great port volocity on a street motor operating under 4000 most of it's life. But at $1480 a pair I think there is MUCH better available.

Just an opinion,, not trying to step on any toes.

Re: Trick Flow Aluminum Double Hump Heads for SBC

I liked the idea a lot when I saw it announced at SEMA. If they would have had it available the credit card would have burned a hole in my pocket. But after the announcement there was no more information anywhere, not even on their website suggesting a timeline or providing any more details. So I got tired of waiting and bought a set of real '186 camel hump heads. Of course despite my best efforts I wound up spending more than that.

Re: Trick Flow Aluminum Double Hump Heads for SBC

Nice to see another street focused sbc head. Must mean there's still a market there. For that money though I'd lean to AFR 180's or Edelbrock etec/vortec 170's.
My real suggestion, however would be to buy my clean Edelbrock performer RPM 185 runner, 64 cc heads for 1/2 the price then get a quality valve job and a little bowl/port work and use the big money saved towards other parts.
