why?

300 miles from home and my friends mom's car who followed us to the beach broke, ( was 3 qts low on oil) the uppper timing chain guide. No one had it so it got slapped back together and it maded it home some how . its an 03 SUZUKI VITARA.

we lucky had some friends that live there and had tools. Oh the piece goes on top of the chain right between teh 2 cam gears

so why does stuff break at the worst time possible
