Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

Yeah it's got some rake to it but what I was shooting for was the wheel well gap be the same all around. I actually really like the rake it has to it. I used 2" drop springs, spindles, and the rear was a 4dr hanger and shackle kit and I removed the overload spring. Should of been a 4/4.5 but it measured out to about a 3/3.5

Will be getting a 295/45 for the rear in about a month. After I sell the stock motor

About to do an LS swap on it this weekend.

PO said he went to dealer and bought the new covers. I haven't found any tags saying other wise. Don't know how true that is though.

I was wondering the same, thinking dang that leather looks perfect if stock. Mine's in nice shape considering the age but not that nice. I bet the PO paid a pretty penny if he got the covers through the dealer. It looks clean though!

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

I'm sure he did!!
He said his intention was to keep the truck and was fixing it up to keep it for a while. You can tell because he went above and beyond just cleaning it up to resell.
The only thing he didn't touch was the paint and it is still in very good shape for 15 year old truck. When i finish the swap im going to be looking for an odometer with around 80k miles on it to match the mileage on the motor. Everything else on the truck has 12k miles on it.
I found this for just the front seats on ebay. I would say $1,000 for all the pieces then the install.

Why would you want to change the cluster to 80k? That's not how many miles are on the vehicle.
I've been watching that ebay post for a while now. I work at a GM dealership and I don't think I can still get all the covers even if I wanted. A local upholstrey shop can get the full kit that looks pretty much like stock covers so I may just do that.

Pretty sure he's contemplating that so the mileage more closely reflects that of the "new" engine. He said the suspension & all has been redone & has approximately 12k miles.

Looks like that eBay ad is also from an upholstery shop. A hot rod shop in SC told me last year that the guy that does a lot of their interior work also has access to a lot of factory materials.

I don't mean any disrespect but I just don't get it when people do that. People ask me all the time when I install a new engine for them if I will set their odometer to zero. I suppose if you're going to keep in forever it doesn't matter but if mileage is lower the next time it's registered it going to throw a flag making the title "true mileage unknown" which will also show up on carfax thus decreasing the value of the vehicle.

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

Its finally out of the shop and in the driveway, still a few things to take care of though. the main thing is recentering the rear wheels. the hanger and shackle kit pushed them back and its really bothering me.

Yeah that's weird. Any driveline vibration?

Not that I know of as of right now, the PO I think rounded out the bleeders on the drums so I haven't gotten the air out if the lines yet in order to drive it.

In Texas I believe after 10 years the odometer is labeled exempt on the title. My current title has exempt on the mileage. I do plan on keeping it for ever, but that is just a plan and how we all know those always change.
Yeah its just for me. Other than the frame and body everything is new on the truck. I do plan to keep the original odometer also.

I don't agree if you are just changing the engine to do that but since the truck has been redone it wont be so bad and im not trying to screw anyone its just for me.

That's not supposed to happen!
It should keep the wheels in the same position other than closer to the body!

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

Truck runs so good now after Hotshot Performance Tuning hooked it up. Wide band tuning is where its at. I never thought the cam would sound like that. I figured it would be less choppy, kind of crazy for a daily driver doing 75 mile round trip everyday to work. I am very happy with it and now need traction bars.

mcm, that sounds good. What AC bracket are you using? I want to run the factory 98 Delphi compressor like you are doing. Do you have any other pics of the AC bracket setup?

Edit: nevermind...I went back and looked at the pics of your engine on the stand and see the bracket you're using. That is the bracket I found on another forum. I'm hoping a TBSS engine cover that I have will fit and cover of the AC system.

Re: How about some pics of 2WD 2DR Tahoe/Yukons

I'm doing a TBSS engine cover also. Ill cut around the AC to make it work.
If you DO NOT use the stock LS alternator like I did, you will need Dayco belt # 5061055 and have to grind a bit from the alt bracket. I used the stock 350 alt. Looks like it sits just a bit lower than the LS alt.

Good to know on the alt because I planned on using my 350 alt. Post a picture when you get the engine cover installed. It'll be a few months before I have my swap complete or else I'd offer up pictures of mine once it is done.

Still debating on weather to leave the ABS unit in there or install the Wilwood brake proportioning valve. My brakes suck even more now with the cam in there.
