Outer Body Mount

I started to do the repair to the passenger floor on my 63 burb and the body supports are rusted out. Since the truck sheet metal is different, working on fabricating something but part of the mount is missing.

Does anyone have any photos or illustrations/diagrams of the suburban body support?

Thanks.

Re: Outer Body Mount

Your body work, metal skills are looking great. I have a 62 panel, I could be wrong, but I think most of the floor supports look the same. Is that piece behind the door, transition up to the wooden floor? I can get you photos of them etc....Ed.

Thanks alot. Appreciate it. Pretty sure they are the same. Different than the truck that is for certain. Been trying to keep at it slowly but surely.
Planning to fix the body mount before doing the inner rocker floor. More room for access and then can treat the rust up inside the body mount.

The piece that transitions up to the wooden floor is further back, Right where the rocker panel meets the rear bedside There is a 90 degree bend that then drops down in between the outerbody mount. I attached a photo of a view from the bottom back of the rocker and then where the floor meets the wooden area. There is a curve there and then the way the floor is flat skews the body mount where it is wider where it meets the outer body. Not sure if there should be a gap or drain hole where as well.

The view from the rocker helps to show what is missing on my body mount. The floor photo shows how the 90 degree bend meets the floor.

Really love to see a photo if you can take one or three. Front view back view and bottom view. Bottom view being most important.

Re: Outer Body Mount

This is the drivers side, undercoating and drop down for fuel switch ? or something blocks decent photo. Brace looks close, Suburban metal floor goes back further, I will get a better photos of the passenger side later....

Thanks for sharing! You Rule. Really Appreciate it. My drivers side outer body mount is also rotted out. Looks the same. the outer body support on the burb/panel Is shorter on the drivers side vs the passenger side, since the driver side does not have to account for the jump seat on the passenger side.
To the left of the photo, the drop down is the inner frame to body mount. Pretty sure I should have worded this thread "outer body support". Since it supports the body and does not attach to the frame.

Has the rubber bushing w bolt. Photo angles from bottom up would be helpful.

Re: Outer Body Mount

Hope it helps, ...there are 2 stamped finger depresions about 4" apart, probably strengthens the piece.

Thanks, Yes that helps. Appreciate it.
I would have never have guessed there is a lip at the bottom rear of the passenger side body support. Was just going to make the passenger side like the driver's side.

Looks like the depressions are the differences on the panel. Same with where the body support bolts to the body.

What year panel do you have?

if it is not too much trouble, a pic of the passenger side view from bottom or 3/4 angle. Trying to see where the body supports meets the rocker.

Thanks!

Re: Outer Body Mount

I will try and get a better photo, the shot with the white cardboard shows the bottom edge. That edge is open on rt side and left side, tips away from the 90 degree like it might have been to shed water... I know the undercoating obscures any decent photo. Also looks like about 1/2" up from rocker lip, maybe even, with rocker. I will check.

Meanwhile!....my panel is a 62..cardboard template is 11" x 14"....11" is up under the plywood floor on mine, yours is lower I think with the bump up in the back, maybe 3"...rocker is even with the bottom, lip hangs down 1/2"...
