Precision brand vent window seals,Goodmark door glass regulator both POS

Ok I paid more money for these Precision brand vent weather stripping. I guess because they are Holy.
Look at these puny glass rollers on this Goodmark brand window regulator from Summit Racing. Compared to the factory ones.

The vent seals look like they’re missing something? I’ve yet to change mine, but the factory seals don’t look like that.

I found a regulator from a donor truck and cut the roller off and welded it to mine. Pleased with the results

I am so glad someone else is complaining about after market junk, I have been bitten by so many pieces of junk, arm rests, side mirrors, of course the window regulators, did you find out that they come in two lengths of the window crank stud tip, somewhere down the line GM started making shorter or longer ones I forget which but your window crank won't slip on it cause it will be too shallow, have fun

and I am so done with LMC, great for looking up schematics, but zero tech support, and parts are like J.C. Whitney quality

I'm that way now too. They're a genuine LAST resort, even if I cant either fix what's broken. I'd rather just go on eBay n get used anymore.

This makes me nervous as I was about to buy a Precision brand windshield gasket. Is there a better option out there?

The window regulator rollers do look too small. While the smaller diameter would seem to ease installation, it also seems they would want to easily pop out of the channel/guide afterward.

Not seeing what the issue is for the precision weather stripping? Doesn't even look like there's any weather-stripping installed.

Something is definitely not right with the vent window. I agree, looks like something is missing. I have Precision Vent seals, although I let them be the ones to rebuild them. One of those things, I think it’s better left to the experts.

As far as the regulators, I would “restore” them, that’s what I did with mine. Did a little sandblasting, cleaned them up and got all that dried grease gunk off. Repainted them & re-greased and they were as good as new. Unfortunately I didn’t get any before and after pics.

Based on reviews, I went with precision vent w/s but they are rusting in the holes by the glass. I have been thinking of filling with black RTV but haven't yet tried it.

Yes, and that is where the rust is starting. I believe this is the back side of the mounting clips.

Yikes, this could get worse. I have thought about utherene (cant spell) the black stuff the automotive glass installers use. If these are truly Percision brand I am disappointed.

Re: Precision brand vent window seals,Goodmark door glass regulator both POS

I bought 90% of my parts from classic parts of America and really good. customer services was amazing. Building a 70 nova now and planning to get most of my stuff though them. I also used all precision weather striping and had zero problems. Including rebuilding the vent windows myself. . Good luck

Wouldn’t this be the sash itself, and doesn’t have anything to do with the seals? I’ll have to look closer at mine. I don’t recall seeing all these holes.

72farmer do you have the seals installed Behind the vertical part & not in front?
It looks like from the pik it is installed wrong. If you could post another photo with the vent open we could see the seal a lot better!

Just came across this thread and what I'm seeing looks a little disturbing. Is that the metal core that's rusting? Can you send me more pictures to my email? derek@prp.com

I would like to look into this a little more!

Thanks
-Derek

Re: Precision brand vent window seals,Goodmark door glass regulator both POS

I saw AC Delco regulator and motors for sale as one unit. I don't know if your windows are hand crank or electric, but AC Delco sells just the regulators separately. As I recall, the price for the combo units were no more than just buying the parts separately. AC Delco might be made in the same factory in China as all the rest, but I still try to get them if possible. I did have one Delco power window motor that had a loose molden in connector on the end of the motor from the factory, which cause intermittent power loss. It took a long time to trace that one down. Everything is made as cheap as possible now because everybody shops price.
