Where does fuel gauge wire go?

I put the fuel tank bank in today but I'm thinking the fuel gauge wire goes in behind the gas tank and not in front of it?

*I can take the tank back out again and fix it.

Re: Where does fuel gauge wire go?

The gas gauge wire goes in front of the tank over to the sending unit.

In front down the "tray" down by the rocker up to the fuse box. Jim

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Where does fuel gauge wire go?

So I am OK with how the wire is now?

My wire seems to go through the ceiling and down from the rear of the cab.....I may go on and pull the tank again for a closer look anyway.

There should be three or four small clips that clip the wire to the top seam of the tank.

You know, I don't think I had any when I took it off!

I was thinking how clipping it to the top of the tank would be a good idea.....where might I find these clips?

Not sure. Probably from someone on the parts board that is parting out a truck.

Wow....I didn't have those so I assume that when the truck was taken to the bondo shop in 1990, those guys removed the clips and never put them back.

If anyone has one or more clips laying around, I'll buy them!

Re: Where does fuel gauge wire go?

I've never seen them listed in any of the '67-'72 truck parts sites, but this is the same clip here:

http://www.rickscamaros.com/camaro-t...1967-1969.html

I needed a couple as well, and had one for an example, these matched exactly. They are sold a few other places as "Camaro Trunk Light Wiring Harness Clips". BTW, they are also used on the power brake booster support bracket (69+) to hold the brake warning light wire, same clip. - Ken
