Square body Snow Plow on a '68 K20 ?

I have too many trucks.
I have a 75 K5 Jimmy that has 3/4 ton running gear and a Meyer plow.
I recently acquired a '68 k20 that I plan on fixing up.
It would be best to mount the plow on the '68 and sell off the K5.
I know the frames are different, but understand the front of both frames are "same-ish".
Anyone know what it would take to fit a Square Body Meyer plow mount on a '68 K20?

I would think the meyer system you have on your K5 would be a E47 pump with a 17078 conventional type frame work for GM 73 -87 trucks and up to 91 blazers

you have to relize that the e 47 was not avaliable in 1968 ,but the conventional frame work was most likly very simular to the 17078 frame you have Im sure you can make it work with some minor mods and at the very worst some welding and steel might need to be done .

I would look up Smith brothers service LLC . these guys are the gurus when it comes to meyer snow plows . give them a call and they will let you know everything.

Re: Square body Snow Plow on a '68 K20 ?

A plow mount from a square body will fit a 67-72. Back in '84 I bought a new Western plow for my '71 K/20. What they gave me was a universal mount because it was an older model. I hated it and returned it. My plowing partner had a new '84 K20 he had just put a new Western on and we got to measuring. Bought another '84 mount and it worked like a charm. All we had to do is slide the mount forward on the frame to account for the extra bit of "peak" in the 67-72 front end compared to the flatter square body. One mount hole could be used and we had to drill one on each side. Other than that, we welded a tab of steel behind the mount on the frame as a stop, since now the frame sat forward of the spring mount or rivet that was meant to act as the stop

Re: Square body Snow Plow on a '68 K20 ?

Thanks for the help, guys.
I actually found a '72 and a '76 4x4 setting side by side, and both of them had the front clips removed.
I was able to take some good measurements, and I am fairly confident that I can make it work.

I really do appreciate all the info.
