Re: turbo task force

Nice Job!! Starting a 55' TF 3100 SWB Stepside Chassis Swap to a 67' C10 Chassis (That's what I Have) What are the biggest difficulties you encountered? Were you able to use the 55 cab mounts?
Thanks

Re: turbo task force

chris909- you can re-use the cab mounts but you will need to elevate them higher or build spacers to get the cab up to the level of the bed. Core support was somewhat trick; required notching the frame a little bit but i can still fit a stock radiator in there.

Re: turbo task force

Thank you for the info, your build looks great!! I was considering mounting the cab on the frame and lowering the bed the 4" I already have the frame Bagged, and C-Notched, Really the the only concern doing it the way I am thinking is if I'll have enough firewall and floor clearance for the SBC 383 & TH350 Trans. What do you think? Again Thanks!!

i think you would have enough room if you wanted to go that route, the only issue i see is how far the front tires will be up in the fenders, but you can mock it up and see if it will work.

Re: turbo task force

well been driving the piss out of it (1100 miles this year), and tuning it as well. That stopped until i can get some better tires. But it runs like a bat out of hell. Pretty fun, lots of compliments and weird stares when they hear the turbo spool up.

Was thinking about tinting it as well.. not so sure though as it might detract from the look. I also have a set of drag slicks for 15" wheels i want to throw on the back and see how it hooks.

layed some streaks down:

Re: turbo task force

Very cool Looks like it's good at painting lines. That's why you put a turbo in it.

Re: turbo task force

I smoked the th350 and had it rebuilt, now its put away for the winter. Mod list for the winter includes:
dual valvesprings
trunion upgrade for the rockers
better tires like the nitto NT05

Also started a new project over the summer and just about wrapped up with that (2000 crew cab short bed big block) suppose to have been just a cab section to replace turned out the whole frame was tweaked, swapped the cabs well, resulted in a complete repaint of the truck in a matte Finnish.

Re: turbo task force

going to pull it out for mods here in the next few weeks, winter is slowly dwindling away. Was thinking of tinting the windows as well, i really hate the fish bowl effect of the truck haha.

Looking at running a set of mickey thompson street ss tires for the rear in a 275/40r20 size.

Also going to slap a methanol injection kit on.

Re: turbo task force

Amazon Prime'd soem new rubber, Nitto NT05 in the 275/40r20 size. About half of what i would have paid here and didn't have to wait 3 weeks. Also got some goodies from brian tooley racing- PAC valve springs and the COMP trunion kit for my rocker arms.

Re: turbo task force

Yeah, hopefully they work out, i cannot get traction off the line whatsoever with the current tires. I aired them down to 20 PSI and it helped a little bit but still makes a nice smoke show with a full throttle pull from a stand still. Ill have to get a video this summer of it!

Re: turbo task force

I got a few go pro videos. still playing with the proper angles.(may upload them once i figure it all out) Last weekend I raced a friends modified 2 door STI, built motor upgraded turbo and pushing around 400 hp in a 2,100 lb car. He pulled me off the line but i caught right up and went past him, then on the highway from a roll i would starting pulling on him.

These trucks are not very aerodynamic; windshield wipers start lifting up and the hood starts waving.

Also raced a chevelle convertible with a hi compression 454, not sure on the HP but started pulling away, i dont think he expected that from a pickup truck.

Anyways the 70 mm turbo wasn't cutting the mustard and the truck started feeling slow to me (yet still fast to everyone riding in it). So i have now swapped in a 76 mm turbo in hopes it will feel fast again!

Currently re tuning the VE table and trying to figure out the latest edition of HP tuners Suite 3.0.

Also i made my own bed wood. This was the dirt cheap way to do it....bought some cedar fence panels from home depot. screwed them down to the existing 3/4" plywood in the bed and made a nifty trap door for the fuel fill. It looks awesome and makes my garage smell great.

Re: turbo task force

new 76MM on the left, Old turbo on the right (exhaust housing is huge on the old turbo but they are both .96 AR and same wheel size).
