Re: 56 chevy truck dash

Im just starting on a 56 shortbox. Gonna mount body on a newer 4x4 chassis 95 - 99 yukon or tahoe chassis. I really like the car dash vs the original one in the truck. Is the car dash a basic replacement? Any "watch out fors"?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: 56 chevy truck dash

Nice work, wheel placement had me confused until I looked at your location. Were the old trucks there imported from AU?? I know the Assembly Manual show the right had drive RPO and mods required.

Nice work on the dash, It is beautiful like the rest of the truck. I did like the wood dash too.

I agree, I like both the wood dash that you had and the new dash. Awesome work

Re: 56 chevy truck dash

I went with a relatively smooth dash. Basically, since we weren't using the stock radio hole and were relocating the headlight and wiper switches, we decided to go smooth except the keyhole for the push button start switch. I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Thanks all, the truck was shipped from CA in 2011 but when it arrived it looked OK with a near new copper pant job, but after seeing it was full of bondo covered rust I decided it needed a complete re do.So when I removed the wood and saw it covered nothing and needed a new dash it was then the right time to switch over to right hand drive.

Mike, your dash looks classy.....
