Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Created twice the potential fuel & transmission leaks as I had before I started!

Apparently got to the old rubber fuel line just before it turned back into dust!

...can you imagine a rubber fuel line letting go, and coating the entire engine compartment with raw fuel, while you're buzzing down the highway @ 60... right before something decides to light it off!

...blow yer dang hood off for starters, then it will burn your poor little truck to the ground.

Hopefully you got out alright.

Performed a backyard tube job, and now all I have to do is make sure the band clamps stay tight...and probably change several small pieces of 2" rubber hose...um, roughly once a year.

90% hand bent and 10% tube bender tool (can you tell?)... Hey Shuddup! it's working alright!

Not this time, I'm up above Havelock at Lost lake, bass hunting. I raising the bar again with 10 hour smoked pulled pork for that trip as well. Bad news on my engine as the crank needs to be ground. So with all the new parts and machining I'm over 1000 bucks again for round two. smoked food heals all wounds.

Removed the 20x9 fronts and put 18x8 on to try to give it some more rake...

boil, cool, and peel eggs. Do not poke or break the white parts, no yokes showing. Warmed my smoker to 80 F ,cold smoke temp, started some apple, hickory, and mesquite chips. Turned off the heat and cold smoked the eggs for ten or so mins. 4 cups vinegar, 1 1/2 tbsp. brow sugar, 4 tbsp. pickling spice, 2 tbsp. sea salt. Bring to a boil and fill jarred eggs. I add a tsp of scotch bonnet hot sauce I make. Seal them up and I( spin the jars around once a day for 5 days at least but a week is better and enjoy.

Yep, I have stereo amplifiers mounted under the bucket seats, so I put the tools and fluids etc. under the hood.

Been rather convenient all these years.

I think it would be easier to go over to your place and just chow down. I mean you have already done the work eh. If we out here made the stuff and it didn't turn out right, your recipes would get a bad rap and that wouldn't be fair now would it. Just a lovely thought. Happy father's day. Let someone else do the BBQING today. Have a good one.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Finished plumbing the rear brake line from shortening the frame. Then replaced the cab mount bushings and bolted the bed back together. Was worried what it might look like or if it would line up, but everything worked out. Next is making access to the fuel tank now mounted in the back of the frame.

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

I finished tearing my replacement bed down. After that, I cut the bolts that hold my flatbed to the frame. I would have removed it but I didn't have anything strong enough to hang from the garage roof to remove it.

Just got it home, it was given to me for helping clean up a hoarder's home. It sat for 5 years (at least that's the last time it was plated).

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Needed a dent in my front cover about a quarter of an inch deep right in the center where the cam sprocket button is. Took a measured swing or 3 with a BFH and an impact socket. Got quarter inch and a fraction more...so I had to beat on the inside of it too!

Re: What did you do to your truck today? Chapter II

Sitting in line at the CostCo gas station yesterday, by the time I got to the pump the engine temp was about 210º (from 180º running on the road). Put a fan clutch on it today. Used the Hayden 2747 and gained about 1/2" more space from the radiator. The fan is at the front edge of the "tunnel", so we'll see how that works out. The new clutch is a lot heavier duty than what came off.

Haven't gotten that for yet! It should as it's the long pump and the cover is dented inward.
