Did I do ok or not?... 2006 1500HD

Hey guys, I normally hang out over on the 47-59 section so excuse any ignorance. Today I bought a 2006 Chevy 1500HD Crew cab for $6300. I know it books allot higher than that. This truck belonged to a construction foreman and has a TON of highway miles... by a ton I mean 246,000. I know its a lot but being all highway the truck runs like a dream and the 6.0L has a ton of power. I figured at only $6300 I could afford some repairs down the road. What do you all think?

Its got bucket seats, bose sound system, and is in pretty good shape aside from some dings and dents.

I'm hoping that you guys can tell me whether I screwed up or not and what are some things I should check out as typical problem areas.

Thanks
Greg

When I say I bought it I should have said that I put a small holding payment on it and i'm hoping to get feed back before I go through with it. Does anyone else have this set up and if so what kind of milage do you get?

Nothing to worry about really other than the tranny going out eventually. $1500 and you'll be rolling again.

If you can deal with the yellow (LOL!) go for it.

Expect 12-13 mpg at best. 6.0 4l80e 4.10 combo is not a great combo for good gas mileage.

I opted out of the deal. I'll keep looking for a truck with a 5.3 and less miles.

They are great trucks, but the mileage and comfort between a 2500 / 6.0L and 1500 / 5.3L are night and day to me. Unless you're going to be towing and hauling alot the heavier truck doesn't make sense. That's my $.02. Love my Dad's 04 quadrasteer for alot of reasons but commuting isn't one of them.
