67 c10 special paint rescue

I rescued another c10 this past weekend. It has special paint listed on the spid and I could use some help figured out what it is. RPO 91001MI.

Re: 67 c10 special paint rescue

No motor listed on spid, so it's likely a 283. I haven't cleaned off the crud to check the #, so it's only a guess at this point. The po's father and son installed a bunch of new parts trying to get it running, but she didn't know if they succeeded before giving up. The new parts include: gas tank, windshield, exhaust, distributor, points, plugs, and wires. They also rebuilt the carb. I plan to check their work and then finish what they started. Not a bad buy for $800.

Re: 67 c10 special paint rescue

looks like 68-only (for Chev trucks) vermilion poly (RPO 515) - but same was available on GMC in 67, so that is likely why it was a Special Paint code for a Chev in that year.

What size wheels and tires are those? 16's and bias ply?
Thanks

I was thinking vermillion, but the 68 only color and the special paint on the spid confused me. thanks for the info.

Correct on both... 16" bias ply. It's been a few years since I've even seen a bias ply tire.

They were an option, usually for the "heavier" 1/2 ton, aka auxiliary 1/4 elliptical helper leaf. Basically for a higher load rating tire.

My20 has 17 bias. Forgot how badly they actually handled.

Nice truck by the way.

I bought a 73 1/2 ton c10 last year that had 16" rims/tires. I'd never before seen a square body c10 with 5 lug 16" rims/tires. I have seen a few 67-72 c10s with 16". I live in farm/ranch country, so a lot of the trucks I find were bought to haul/tow.
