Re: Lets see your gauges setups

I was able to keep the original speedo (the only thing that worked on my original instrument cluster). Clear anodized the face to match some left over Autometer gauges I had, and used Adobe Illustrator to recreate the speedo numbers and hash marks in reverse and in the correct arch.

Astronaut, really like that clean look. What all is involved in re-numbering/recalibrating the speedo?

All I had to do was send payment, a lens, and a block off plate to Jason at Greenback Decal. He uses a stock block off plate for the face of the tach, and uses his own internals and overlay for the graphics. I wetsanded and buffed the lettering off a reproduction lens and he screen printed new numbers on the lens. He can do 6,7,8k tachs as well if you don't want or need a 10k tach.

The speedometer may end up being driven by an Abbot cable-x box or Dakota Digital's newer version. That will take car of the speedometer calibration. Jason handles the tach calibration.

Re: Lets see your gauges setups

Here's a couple of my '62 dash taken during re assembly a couple years back. I went with VDO Cockpit Royale gauges, which I opened up & modified (not an easy thing to do with crimped on bezels I'll tell you I repainted the stock pointer colour from black to red, also added the GMC logo on the speedometer & covered over the VDO name with "Murphy's" (my nickname) since I modified them anyway I also went with a painted diamond plate as the gauge support panel and repeated that theme making up a filler panel insert for the glove box. Think it turned out pretty cool!

Re: Lets see your gauges setups

These are my gauges that will go back in once the cab repairs and wiring are complete. They are AutoMeter with No Limit face plate. I plan to fill in the switch holes on the bezel. My new to me tilt column has a key & wiper. I'll hide the light switch under edge of the dash.

This is a fairly poor pic of mine...finger printed & dusty from putting it in & taking it out several times during the wiring process...but it is all that I have on hand!

Re: Lets see your gauges setups

You do realize that the GMC and Chevy dash clusters are not the same, correct?

Here is a very nice set of gauges that sdwolff98 is installing in his GMC. You'll have to scroll down the page a ways.
