New Year New Project

Well after having the worst year of my life I went out and bought a new project. Itís been a couple years since I sold my 70 to buy ground to build my house, so I wanted to get a 2wd to have some fun in during the nice months. Itís got a great body and the motor purrs and shifts good and thatís about it.

Re: New Year New Project

Sounds like a good starting point, what are your plans?

Re: New Year New Project

Well first thing is to get the smoke smell out of the inside, and some new carpet. But I am going to lower it and put some new wheels on it. Probably do a stereo system. Iím not planning on driving it till spring and the roads get washed off, so I have 3-4 months to play around with it.

Re: New Year New Project

Unless the carpet is really bad, you could try to shampoo it. I got a house shampooer for about $120 and it has worked amazing. In the house and in the cars. Decent investment if you have carpets in the house, especially if you have kids or pets. The cheaper route is to use a spray bottle or pump sprayer - soak it down, hit it with a brush, and suck it up with a shop vac. It's more about getting it wet and sucking the dirty water off than it is about scrubbing it.

Re: New Year New Project

I used to detail cars and even motor homes when I was younger and from my experience this carpet was trashed. The whole inside was trashed and smelled like cigarette smoke awful. None of the door locks worked cause all of the actuators were bad, a couple of the door handles are broke, the dash is cracked in a couple places. So at the moment I started stripping all the plastic and seats and once I get everything out I am going to clean everything before the new carpet goes in. And I bought a Ozone generator and from what I read it is supposed to take the smell out of anything, and completely eliminate it forever. So if it works I will do a post about it also. It was like 65 dollars from amazon so if it works it was really worth the money.
