Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Did not have the opportunity to get my K-20 back to the house...it's likely under much water with all the flooding here in Nebraska. Any one have experience bringing a flood truck back to life?

I'll post pictures when water goes down. Also had a boat at that storage area...hoping it survives.

Only one fatality in NE so far. Counting my blessings...so many displaced, homes wrecked, livestock lost.

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Sorry to hear about your situation, hopefully your truck and boat survives !
I guess the important things really, are our family and friends that may be in
trouble . Material things come and go but family and friends are impossible to replace.
Prayers to you and yours !

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Hope for the best. If your truck sat in water for ay time, you need to dry out and drain every thing, like differentials engine and trans. If the eng/trans didn’t sit in water you’ll just have to do the axles.
Man, i hope your House and garage are ok.

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Glad you and your family are well. As long as your truck isn't under water to long hopefully all you'll have to do is dry it out and change some fluids.

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Grew up in Nebraska, parents live in York. Hope you can recover most of your stuff in good shape. As for the truck, there isn't a whole lot to these trucks. Drain and flush the diffs, transmission, transfer case. Yank the seat out pull the carpet and clean it all out. You might end up replacing some soft goods here and there but it shouldn't be to bad.

Good luck!

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

flood(s) are no joke .... glad you made it out safely
depend(s) on the water ( fresh or salt ), they have their own way of breaking down electrical component(s)
do you have any foto(s) of the truck afterwards ? how much of the truck was submerged ?

Yes, important thing is family! All is well with them.

Hard to tell how much water the truck is sitting in. Yes, material things come and go...

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

If it was submerged at all count on electrical. Those corrosion gremlins hide inside connectors and will be a pain. If it was still original wiring it’s probably best to count on doing that, alternator, starter. A pain for sure. Grew up in David City, still have lots of family in that area.

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Hope all waters recede quick. I am in North Platte that storm hit on all sides but all we had here was winds and rain. When all the snow melts in panhandle might be a bit of flooding then.
Hope everyone comes out OK,
Ron

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Man, you guys are GREAT! Appreciate all the thoughts and encouragement. Still cannot access the truck...I'm told roads in and out of Fremont area are just now open. One lane.

I'm certainly not going to clog up traffic just to have a look at my old K-20.

Hope to get out there this weekend. The truck has been sitting for 5 years now. I head out there every year to start it up. Did blow the brake master cylinder a few years back, so it's not been driven in some time.

It's rusty, and needing work...but I love it!

Crossing my fingers it's not too bad...

I will post pictures when I can.

Thanks again! Daubs

We’re just outside of Omaha in Waterloo, the Elkhorn River backs up to our house. Pic of my neighbors house and my kids hanging out by their clubhouse

Re: Flood in Nebraska & my K-20

Man, I hope your waters recede faster than ours have. I'm in West Tenn, and we have also had horrible flooding. A couple of weeks ago the Tennessee River peaked at the highest it's been since the 1800's. It's gone down quite a bit, but we are still way above flood stage and there are miles of river bank property still underwater.

I wish I could be more help to you here. I hope your truck is still where you left it and is easy to fix.
