Parking Brake Control Rod Return Spring
Can anyone tell me where the parking brake control rod return spring connects to the frame? On the driver side rail or on the cross member by the parking brake cross shaft? The assembly manual diagrams I have don't clearly depict this clearly. Thanks!

Also, does anyone know where I can buy the parking brake release rod. That's the rod between the release handle and the foot pedal lock/bar. Every vendor seems to have every parking brake part except that one. I guess I can just thread a 1/4" rod if I can't find one.

The spring hooks to the cross member that the carrier bearing is on about half a foot over on the drivers side there is a small hole on the flat part of the reinforcement the right side dose not have this hole . I can get a picture in the morning .

Thanks Bimus! If you could get a picture of and measure the release rod and see if it is straight end to end or has a 90 degree bend at the bottom end I would really appreciate it! The assembly manual depicts a lock bar with a 90 degree twist at the top end connecting to a release rod with a 90 degree bend. My parking brake lock bar is flat end to end with a hole at the top end, so I expect it remains straight and threads through the hole and the spring to as washer and nut.

Thanks again Bimus! I really appreciate your efforts! By the way what year AD is in the photo? Mine is a 1950 3100. I'm just curious when they changed the top of the lock bar to/from a flat/twist.

OK apparently I have to stretch the very stout return spring with the extension about 4" to reach the cross member hole. Any suggestions how to do this safely?

I figure I’ll do the reverse when I need to take that spring off. Just set the parking brake, insert quarters and release the brake.

Marty68 do you have an S10 rear end with drum brakes on a stock AD frame with a cross shaft? If you do what I did with my 12 bolt rear end on my stock AD frame should work for you. I used stock parking brake cables for the 12 bolt and threaded the cables through the original AD yoke ends connecting the rear assembly to the cross shaft. I used cable stops with set screws to allow for adjustment. From the cross shaft forward it's all original.
