1984 K-5 Blazer "The Monster Truck"

question.. Should i put a 2 bbl intake and new 2 bbl carb on, or an edelbrock intake with a holley pro-jection fuel injection kit? decisions... either is free.

The motor is built on the stand... Now I just need to do a flush on the tranny (been sittin outside), bolt everything together, and drop it into the blazer. I have the front clip removed, so i think i can stab the motor/trans/transfer all together at once. I have a question, I have a set of headers that are for a 2wd, will they work on this thing? itll just be running open headers if they will fit.

your not tha only one on here that talks to him self if thought the same thing its because your not building a bagged truck on big wheels or something for show with a unlimited budget.. sorry bout the rant.. keep up the good work post pics when you get it in there running

I know what you mean. Im sick of the unlimited budget builds. Anyone can throw ungodly amounts of cash at a truck being built by a shop and make it into somethin cool. I really respect those that work on a limited budget and do all the work themselves... The little guys usually.

yea some here im on a small budget and usually when your on a small budget you come up with some really kool ideas out of not have much money

Exactly. That is what i admire. Well I got my motor/tranny/transfer all dropped in and i am in the process of buttoning everything up. pics later

well heres pics as promised, all in all the installation went smoothly so far. I have the crossmember all bolted up and in the correct drop position, along with my headers put on. I also started to run the wiring and thats where i quit today.

Funniest thing that happened, I was using a master lock as a chain link while installing the motor, and, long story short it bumped the firewall and broke the key off inside the lock, so then i had to cut it off with a torch!

And there it is! That little 355 really likes its new home!


Tomorow I will finish bottoning up the motor, add gas, oil, and tranny fluid, and give it a go!

Things I need to do... Im listing this out and as I complete each one ill mark it off

Fixed Wiring-Done
Mounted Starter-Done
Installed harmonic balancer pulley-Done
Sat in seat and made motor noises while playing with shifter- Done, repeatedly

Yet to do...

Seal up dist. cap-done
Get gas-done
Mount fuel pump-done
Water pump and alternator and power steering
torque converter bolts-done
mount driveshaft
test tranny-done
brake lines& fix brakes
Install front clip
radiator and hoses-done
Finish front bumper
Gut interior-paint floors black-fix hole in floor
Install Bumpin stereo
Fluid change on tranny and transfer
Maybe buy some gauges... If i have the money
Figure out a good air filter for the 2bbl so it dont get plugged with mud

Hopefully ill have this done by the 26th of this month, well, atleast the main stuff. I can deal with the ghetto interior and no radio, but I need a tranny and brakes for sure.

It lives! I got it fired up the other night, played with the timing, and got it running pretty smoothly. it sounds great, like a monster truck (straight headers) lol now i just need to get u joints and rig the brakes up well enough for a testdrive around the pasture!

Well i am pulling the drivetrain back out, tranny is junk. And honestly its easier to pull everything out and re-stab it as a unit

well there hasnt been much progress here because honestly, the k5 has been cast aside because of the tranny, and lack of funds and motivation to fix it. Its gonna be around 450 bucks for my tranny to be built. anyone have one they wanna give me? that would be nice...

How hard would an sm465 swap be? And what are the differences between the 2wd version and 4wd?

Guess what? I pulled off a miracle! I traded my cousin a stock th400 for his 2wd for a built th350 out of his old samurai. Score! Expect progress soon!
