Cool Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

We Had these at my old Company. Everyone has seen them. But you had to drive these stripped down uncomfortable, back breaking, sweat-boxes, that you had to climb into in a pitched enclosed dock. They had no steps and in an angled dock [most were because of drainage] you had to step on the thin wheelwell to get in. When they switched to the Louisville models the injuries went way down.Do I sound upset ? You bet your Bippy...We survived though most of us were from good stock

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

I drove a C-model straight box truck once. My buddy had a rafting company and hauled rafts from take-out back in it. This was in the West Virginia mountains. Take-out was down in a ravine at the end of an abandoned road along the river. Had to cross an antique single steel truss bridge over the river. I mean, only rafting companies and folks looking to fish used this bridge. I think everyone 'assumed' it was safe. Not driving every day for a living in one, but that was hairy driving down that old washed out dirt road through the woods and over that bridge... both ways!

My sign painter/truck lettering/artwork buddy has this one with a crane

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

I'd "settle" for a 3/4t. Yours are bth really nice. I have always hoped to have some sort of vintage chore boy like this, or a flatbed... or both, all tippy top ready to take into town for supplies.

These are 3/4t I had saved. :

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

The yellow truck was originally painted in STP colors & used by Richard Petty before it was sold to the Snake.

From what I heard ( I won't divulge the source )..... Even though the trucks are history, ....the interior cab had at least as much..... "history"....

Very cool. The real trucks! Must be '67s and the one has a '68 grille. I had a '69 W200, which was first year for new hood but same grille as '68. Mine ended up with '68 sheet metal (cab and hood). My first frame-off truck

Re: Trucks Are Beautiful

Next time someone says the 67-72 GM Trucks had rust issue you need to point out how old they are and rust happens to everything. That '69 Dodge cab was rusted out in '77 when I bought it. It was originally a 7up green color and had already had a repaint in '77 when I bought it. It was only 11 years old when I restored it, including a cab swap. Fords rusted before the GMs, too. The 67-72 GMs held up better than the 73-78s around here. dodge did built the badass 4wds back in the '69s though
