Installing MY6/A833 in an 85 C10.

I have recently purchased an MY6/A833 transmission to install in a 1985 C-10 that originally had a 305/TH350C combo. I have searched around and cannot find a definitive answer about the transmission hump. I know that if this truck originally had the MY6/A833 transmission, then it came from the factory with a high hump transmission tunnel. My question is... does anyone know if this transmission will fit under the low hump tunnel? The transmission looks like it doesn't have as much height as a top loader style SM465. I do not mind if the base of the Hurst shifter comes up though the floor.

Thanks,

I'm guessing it will fit under a low hump floor, especially if you are willing to allow the base of the shifter to stick up a bit.

GM has a different set of requirements for clearances and durability for building a million trucks than you or I do for just our own.

I have (2) trucks with the A833. I do not believe the hump is as high as my old 4 x 4 with the "farmer 4-speed" . I actually have one of the A833 trucks ripped apart in my shop. Could get you a measurement if that helps?

Its roughly the same height and size as my saginaw in my 74 c10. I have my a833 almost ready to instal also. Keep us updated.
