Is there a poor man steering rack upgrade for these trucks?

Would like to hack the system lol

Replace the Steering shaft with one out of a early 90's Jeep Cherokee. There's plenty of information on people who have done that swap... it's ALMOST a direct replacement.

This replaces the GM Rag Joint with a U Joint configuration.
