which would you buy?

In my area i've found the following pickups and talked to the owners. Would you buy these pickups for the prices listed if given the chance?

1967 red LWB small window, straight 6 (in pieces) 3spd, wood bed, very little rust, needs a driver side bed side. $150

1971 3/4 ton pale yellow with white cab LWB custom with lower trim. rust in rockers but didn't see any in other places, 89,000 original miles, comes with an ancient Alaskan crank-up camper. This truck has sat for 5 years since the owner has had health problems. I don't believe it's been started during this time, owner said it worked great when he parked it. $2000

1972 SWB with a crate 350 which has about 40,000 miles on it. 4spd, custom, shell, dented passenger door, rust in rockers (it's that mustard yellow color with the lower trim) $2500 (is being used as a daily driver)

i'd say the 67 small window would be worth it. but what about options, like p/s, p/b, a/c? i guess that doesn't matter too much, seeing as how that can be added fairly easy.

The question should be more "How much work do you want to do?" and "How much cash can you lay out now vs. over time?"

Personally, I'd take the '72 swb because it's mostly complete and a 350 / 4 speed combo. Plus, you can drive it now.

I'd go with the 72, more options available.

I'll just say this: If I lived in your area, I'd go buy that 67 right now, I even have the cash right here. For only $150, sounds like a good project to me, plus I think there's somethin cool about 67-68 Chevies, and I'd like to get a 6 cyl one of these days, and I like stepsides too...sheesh.

The 67 would be good for parts at that price, or trading stock.

ended up doing something not in the equation.... pulled up the local nickel adds on the computer this afternoon and found a 1970 custom listed for $500. Immediately called the owner, a middle aged guy whose father used to own it. it's a custom with a 292 straight 6 and a 4spd. I looked it over top to bottom and found only a little surface rust under the truck, nothing on the rockers or cab corners. It needs a new gas tank (rust clogs the inline fuel filter), the passenger door window doesn't work, and a few dents and dings here and there. the glove box said it had "medium red" paint which is now badly oxidized, and a white cab. I purchased it for $400. I'll post pictures this weekend.

Thanks,
Cam

Why is it you lucky dogs in the northwest have soooo many classic trucks to pick from??? Here in MN it would take a year of looking to come up with that many good choices!!! I'm gonna hafta move! PS I'd still go buy that 67! That looks like a project just begging for a new owner.

Hooter, I would as well but my pockets aren't quite that deep and my wife.... well my wife is wondering what I'm going to do with 2 pickups. I try to explain that they are "tools" not toys. But all I seem to get is "the look".

"The look"...... man, I see that all the time!! I've got 3 pickups, an 89 S10 with a 7 1/2 ft western plow, so I justify that as my plow truck. A 95 K1500, as my daily driver, lately a parts chaser for my Pete, and 69. The 69 I blatantly declared a classic that will be restored, and used in my mowing, and brush cutting business.

do what i did, trade one pickup for another!!! no more " you're not getting another one until you get rid of one you have" (say in a nagging voice)
