Forward A Arms

At what level of drop does a forward A arm become beneficial?

Re: Forward A Arms

The position of the wheel relative to center is related to the amount of drop because of the arc of suspension travel. Im wanting to know when it becomes noticeable. 2" drop 4" drop more than 4?

Re: Forward A Arms

I imagine the answer could be calculated fairly easily. A simple angle finder (between $10 and $50, regular or digital) against a level part of the a-arms, or the spring, to find the angle of suspension trajectory, then add a few geometric calculations, and you can find how much the wheel deviates from centerline for any given amount of drop.

(I'm not insulting you for asking the question, if I were in your shoes I would also ask first. But if you don't get a sufficient response, I'm offering an alternate suggestion. I can help with calculations if you need)

Re: Forward A Arms

Unless your suspension travel is fully at each end of the arch the center of the spindle will be the same. The main reason for the center control arms is for looks and if you lay frame with a huge rim or tire it keeps you from having to tub the firewall for clearance.
