8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

Well, I've been looking for some these for a while. Detroit Steel just started making them. I ordered some 20X9s and will post up some pictures here in 3 to 3.5 weeks when they come in.

They also come in 22 inch, but you can't get the beauty rings with the 22s.

Looking forward to the pics. Will they take the 3/4 ton caps with clips.

They will drill, tap and mount clips so you can use the stock cap. I'm going with 2003ish cap shown in the pic. Here are some pics from Detroit Steel and Penn C10.

Re: 8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

What kind of back spacing did you get? I'm debating whether I should get those or waiting for artillery style. For those '03 style caps you just need the threaded lug nuts right?

Good luck. Just ordered mine today. Went with 20x9 5.5 b.s. in front 20x9 4.5 b.s. in back. Let's see how it goes.

Good luck to you, too. If you would, post some pics here so we can compare the 1/2 inch.

Also, what tires are you going to run?

Will do. I'm thinking 255/40 Or 255/45. Don't want the tire bulging out to much. I ordered them raw because I'm wanting to get them powder coated red and putting those 03 style center caps. I ordered the trim rings as well.

Jose,

How did that cap clear the rear axle? I'm having hell with mine.

Re: 8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

I think yours are a bit different. Mine fit good. Might have to trim the rear ones on the little stems inside. I was able to get the plastic nut to catch on the rear ones but didn't turn a whole lot. They're off 88-99 truck I think.

I may end up swapping to your style then. I had to get some dually caps for the rear. But, plastic caps don't hit the lug threads...

Re: 8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

Can you trim the base to make them shorter? I thought I read some posts of people doing that.

Wow they look amazing.
I have to go and convince my wife that they are a necessary safety item for the truck.

Re: 8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

hata/Jose,
...just curious for your respective trucks, what sort of drop are you running (front and rear)? I'm considering these wheels and want to be sure things clear.
As well, please post pics when tires are mounted

Thanks,

Kevin

Re: 8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

I did 2.5 inch drop spindle in front and 1 inch lowering spring. In the back I have a 4 inch drop spring and 1.5 inch lowering block.

Re: 8 Lug 20 Inch Steelies

Here it is all shoed up. I named him Pappaw. Still waiting on the beauty rings. Hopefully they’ll get here Monday. I'm going to lower the back about an inch. I plan on towing with this truck.

Wheels are 20X9 all the way around. 5 inch backspacing in front and 4 inch backspacing in rear. Tires are Continental 275/45R20. I chose Continental because of availability in the size I wanted and they’re asymmetrical, so I can rotate sides.

And, yes, the bed is not set straight. I’ll fix that soon.
